Message from President Roberts: The Importance of Opening Week

Dear Colleague,

Opening Week is a time for our campus community to connect and learn together and prepare to welcome students for the new academic year. This year’s Opening Week (September 20-27, 2018) is designed as a purposeful week of learning together in a conference-style format with welcoming addresses, “big idea” breakout sessions, and time to connect with one another.

I encourage all of us to engage in as many activities as possible to continue the work of creating the preferred future we’ve been building together for the past few years. Please review the Opening Week full schedule and concurrent sessions to learn more about our special week together.

  • Thursday, September 20 – New Faculty Orientation, Division/Department Meetings
  • Friday, September 21 – Convocation, Interactive Sessions, Lunch and Service Milestone Awards, Ice Cream Social
  • Monday, September 24 – Concurrent Learning Sessions, History of Place Nature Walk, New Employee Meet & Greet
  • Tuesday, September 25 – SCCFT Executive Board Meeting, SSCFT and Faculty Senate Joint Lunch and Meeting
  • Wednesday, September 26 – First day of the quarter
  • Thursday, September 27 – All Campus Food Truck Lunch

I look forward with great anticipation to starting the fall quarter and to see you at Fall Convocation and during Opening Week!

Cheryl Roberts, Ed.D.
