Hi folks, I hope all are doing well. It’s been a long and hectic week, but at least we have another beautiful day!
A lot of typical admin work this week, though I did get to attend storyteller Fern Renville’s presentation on indigenous influences on the early development of America’s burgeoning democracy. A wonderful presentation — so much history that has been hidden, and so much more to learn!!
I wanted to end by reiterating the “Waves of Gratitude” to Norah Peters and Tirzah Williamson for their work in leadership for the classified union. As a former union leader, I can tell you that this work is very challenging and exhausting. Tirzah & Norah led the team with purpose, conviction, and care for their representatives. They are always open to listening and discussing issues and have had a very positive impact on this college. Thank you for your service!

Business Administration
RFP2526.01 Food and Catering Services Update:
The Committee’s evaluation of written proposals is completed. Since all scores are within 10% of the highest score, all three respondents moved forward to the Evaluation Phase 2 to include Oral Presentation and a Food Test. Oral Presentations have concluded and the Food Test is scheduled the week of June 8th. The three “Responsive Vendors” listed in alphabetical order are:
- Navi’s Catering Kitchen
- Shinya Shokudo 3 LLC
- Upper Crust Food Service
After the awarded vendor is determined, we begin contract negotiations and final agreement execution. The plan is still a fall quarter start.
Printing Services
Printing Services will be closed on Wednesday through Friday, June 3, 4, & 5th, respectively, and will reopen on Monday, June 8. Please plan accordingly and contact Greg Jensen via email or phone at (206) 546-4674 if you need assistance with your printing needs.
Benefits Hub

The Blake Nordstrom Scholarship application is NOW OPEN for the 2026–2027 academic year.
Through a partnership between Nordstrom and United Way of King County, twenty students attending Benefits Hub partner colleges will each receive a $5,000 scholarship to support their educational journey. This includes Shoreline College!
General Eligibility Requirements:
- Must be 18 or older
- Be enrolled in 6+ credits at a Benefits Hub partner college
- If taking 1–5 credits, you must be credential-degree-seeking, or declared
- Have at least one quarter remaining in your academic or certificate program at the time of application
- No GPA requirement!

Scholarship Awards
170 Scholarships have been awarded by the Foundation to students for the upcoming 2026-2027 academic year!
Thanks to the generosity of our community and on-campus donor community, a total of $353,167 will be awarded through these scholarships.
The Foundation’s purpose is to increase student access and success. These scholarships change students’ lives in very real ways, going directly to the students and enabling them to focus on education, stay in school, and finish their degree on time. Thank you to all the donors and volunteers who helped create these opportunities!
At this year’s Commencement Ceremony, Shoreline College Foundation scholarship recipients will be wearing white cords. Be sure to congratulate these scholars who have earned this honor by pursuing their educational goals with exeplary resilience and dedication.
Shoreline College Foundation Staff Emergency Fund
The Foundation has established an Employee Emergency Assistance Grant for staff members dealing with financial hardships because of the July 2025 salary range implementation error and the subsequent required repayments.
All impacted employees are strongly encouraged to complete a brief online application to have the Foundation provide financial assistance to complete your repayment process. To apply for these one-time emergency assistance funds, please complete your application online: Shoreline Employee Assistance Grant Form.
This is a powerful example of how your donations solve big problems! You can be an important part of finding more creative solutions by filling out an Employee Giving Form and making regular gifts to support our students, our academic programs, and our campus community.
Sharing Alumni Engagement Opportunities
As part of the College’s Strategic Plan to “strengthen and leverage the College’s alumni network,” the Foundation is working to coordinate and expand on alumni outreach and engagement throughout the campus. If you are in contact with specific groups of alumni, please encourage them to sign up for the official Shoreline College Alumni Network and connect through the official Shoreline College Alumni LinkedIn Page.
If you have opportunities for alumni engagement, we’d love to support your efforts! When sharing updates about events, volunteer opportunities, alumni social media profiles and alumni news, on campus visits, or anything else involving Shoreline College alumni, please alert the alumni office by emailing a notification about the opportunity to alumni@shoreline.edu and let us support you in your outreach. We need to measure our outcomes as part of the strategic plan, and the more we can work together the stronger our alumni community will become.
