Hello all,
This past week was a powerful reminder of what makes Shoreline College so special!
There is truly nothing like a nursing pinning ceremony. Not a dry eye in the house, and for good reason. It was an honor to celebrate our nursing graduates alongside faculty, friends, and families who supported them every step of the way. Congratulations to our exceptional students and to the incredible faculty who guide them—nurses are amazing, and so are those who teach them. Grateful as well for A.J. Mendoza, Dalila Paredes, and Ryan Aiello, Ph.D., for their leadership and presence.
We also concluded the America at 250: Hope, Joy, Civic Renewal series, thanks to the thoughtful coordination of Ken Winnick and Kenneth Doutt. The final conversation, featuring Sean Goode and Priya Frank, brought warmth, honesty, and a sense of shared responsibility to care for one another. It was equally encouraging to see so many community members gathered in our library.
Our undergraduate research showcase highlighted the academic excellence and curiosity that define our students. Their professionalism and depth of knowledge were truly impressive. Many thanks to the many faculty who organized such a meaningful opportunity for student scholarship, including Michael Overa, Rachel Rawle, Vashuda Sundaravadan, Orlando DeLange, and Joyce Fagel.
Finally, we had the privilege of honoring this year’s retirees. Hearing colleagues reflect on the impact of their work was both moving and inspiring. These individuals have helped shape Shoreline in lasting ways, and we are deeply grateful for their service and commitment. Thank you to Ryan Aiello, Ph.D., Maiya Bailey, Julie Bathke, Dalila Paredes, and many others who helped create such a thoughtful and celebratory gathering.
As we look ahead, we are preparing for Commencement—one of the most meaningful moments of the year. Congratulations to our graduates, and happy Commencement. I look forward to celebrating with many of you. See you there!
Cheers,
Jack
