Campus Updates 10/29/2026

Hello all, I hope your week is going well.

This week I have been working on the budget and a lot of policy work.  I am sharing duties with Human Resources, getting a lot of policies ready to come through the governance councils.

I also attended the Shoreline College Foundation Alumni Event, held alongside Shoreline College men’s and women’s soccer matches, where I had the opportunity to connect with alumni, scholar-athletes, Foundation leaders, and community members – it was a great event!  Loved the student’s enthusiasm (despite a tough game).

We also met with a delegation from the Uzbekistan Consulate (including the consul General) to discuss opportunities for international collaboration, including student mobility, educational partnerships, and pathways for Uzbek students to pursue their studies at Shoreline College. The conversation highlighted shared interests in expanding global learning opportunities and strengthening ties.

In addition, I attended the Korean National Day Celebration at Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery, joining community leaders and partners to celebrate Korean independence and strengthen relationships with members of the Korean community. The event provided a valuable opportunity for engagement and connection, including time with State Representative Cindy Ryu and other regional leaders.

Lastly, I’m proud to share that Shoreline College has been identified as one of only two colleges among Washington’s 34 community and technical colleges selected as an early adopter of the new AA-DTA, providing greater transfer flexibility for students. Thank you to all faculty, staff, and administrators whose feedback and collaboration helped make Shoreline a leader in this student-centered advancement.

Best,

Jack

Volunteers Needed

The Foundation’s Giving Table Luncheon is on Friday, November 6 at 11:30 AM. We need your help to make sure the event is a success.

With 300+ community members joining us for lunch, we’ll need assistance with tasks like day-of setup, handing out name badges, and ushering guests to tables. We’re looking for about 3-5 staff members to volunteer. (Stay for the event and you will be fed!)

The Giving Table is the Foundation’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and the best opportunity to build support for scholarships, academic program funds, and emergency student aid.

Employees interested in volunteering can do so with supervisor approval as long as there is no impact to the completion of regular duties.

If you’re interested in volunteering, please contact sccfoundation@shoreline.edu once you’ve gained supervisor approval to do so. Thank you in advance for your help!

Scholarship Classroom Visits: If you’d like us to do a 10-15 minute scholarship presentation for your class, please complete this form and we’ll be in touch soon: Classroom Visit – Scholarship Outreach – Fill out form.

Guided Pathways

The Navigate 360 team will launch the Request for Information (RFI) on the main website page this week.  This will feature automated messages sent within 24 hours to prospective students focused on both general Shoreline College information and optional additional program specific information. This reduces staff workload and speeds up targeted information to prospects.

The Navigate 360 Team has identified the required SMS texting language needed to gain two-way texting approval and is working with TSS and MarCom to post.

Find Your Future – 11/5 11-1pm, 9000 Lobby, Explore academic paths, meet faculty and find your future career. Open to all students.
