Tuesday, August 5:
The Board of Trustees will hold a Special Meeting beginning at 12 p.m. in the Board Room. The meeting is for the Board to meet with Thomas W. Mesaros of The Alford Group to plan the Board’s mid-August Retreat. Access the board’s site on the intranet to see the agendas for meetings.

Family, friends, co-workers and acquaintances of Prof. Linda D. Barnes gathered Saturday, Aug. 2, 2014 to remember and honor her life.
Barnes, 57, a faculty member in the nursing program at Shoreline Community College for the past 24 years, passed away July 16, 2014, following a nearly year-long battle with cancer. She is survived by her husband, Larry, and daughter, Shannon.
Retired Prof. Hermien Watkins, Barnes’ longtime teaching companion, presided at the memorial service that included a reading of the Nightingale Tribute. Heartfelt comments came from Larry Barnes, college President Cheryl Roberts, Interim Vice President for Academic and Student Affairs Bob Francis, Dean of Students Kim Thompson, nursing program director Lynn Von Schlieder and many Shoreline faculty members, former students, family members and others.
Barnes came to Shoreline in 1990 as an associate faculty member to teach perinatal care. In 1998, she applied for a tenure track positon and was awarded tenure in 2001. Barnes earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Western Reserve College, Cleveland, in 1979 and Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Case Western Reserve University in 1980. She earned her Master’s in Nursing from the University of Washington in 1990.
