New exhibit in the art gallery

kolboCome check out the new show in the art gallery titled “Alley Kids” by Scott Kolbo, a professor at Seattle Pacific University. A mixture of static drawings with animations projected on the wall create a unique exhibit in the gallery that you will want to see!

The exhibit will run from Jan. 6-31 and can be seen Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. There will be a reception on Saturday, Jan. 25th from 4-5 p.m. with Kolbo.

Nominate an inspiring student story!

The Washington State Student Service Commission (WSSSC) is looking for inspirational stories regarding the impact of community college education on students’ current or future success.  If you know a student on campus with a great story, encourage them to apply to be a student speaker at the WSSSC state conference on April 30-May 2, 2014. Please have students complete the WSSSC Student Speaker Application 2014 and return it to Dean of Students Kim Thompson at kthompson@shoreline.edu. These applications are due by Friday, Feb. 7, 2014.

New student welcome

For some of our students, college can seem daunting. But with the tips, tricks and advice offered at the new student welcome the task won’t be nearly as tough.

Join other staff, faculty and students as they offer advice during a resource fair, workshops and a campus tour. Plus, free (and who doesn’t like free?) food, games and prizes you don’t want to miss. Make sure to mark down Wednesday, Jan. 8, from 11:30 a.m. -4 p.m. in the Pagoda Union Building (PUB) Main Dining Room on your calendar and good luck this quarter!
