Well, it’s good to be back. I was ill and out almost all of last week and missed a lot of important events, most notably graduation. It’s the first graduation I have ever missed. I streamed, though, and cheered everyone on. I heard nothing but praise for this year’s event – many saying it was even more special than usual. My thanks to the Commencement Committee and to Dr Ryan Aiello for doing my part (he was fantastic).
Coming back this week to a great opportunity for Dr. Lucas Rucks and I to be on the welcoming “Partner Panel” at the Muckleshoot Effective Teaching Institute with colleagues from Pierce College, University of Washington, Western Washington University, and Auburn District k-12. We were thrilled to represent Shoreline and to meet so many wonderful leaders. We have an awesome team from SCC attending this week – I can’t wait to hear what ideas they bring back!

I’m now buried in emails and many other items but glad I’m on the mend. Hope to see you on campus!
Cheers,
Jack

Business Administration
Evergreen Refreshments (Avanti Markets) has completed the self-service food equipment refresh in PUB Bldg. 9000 with new Pico Vision Coolers. The installation went well and there will be adjustments completed during the summer quarter:
As a reminder, when a user scans their debit or credit card, a pre-authorization is triggered. As a result, a $10.00 pending charge may appear on their bank account. This is temporary and will adjust once the actual product charge is finalized.
For users that had a previous Avanti Card, Evergreen Refreshments is working on a process to refund balances to account holders.
Please see the “How to Use” diagram below for utilizing the new coolers. This is similar technology to the self-service beverage coolers at the Seattle Mariners and Seattle Seahawks’ stadium.

Automotive Showroom Project
The automotive showroom in 2100 will be getting a makeover. This room will be converted into the new Mechatronics lab. The makeover will consist of a change in the flooring and updating signage. The flooring changes will consist of removing tile and sealing the concrete floor.
This process will start on Wednesday, 6/25 and be completed by Friday, 6/27. During this time there will be noise in that area and an odor due to the sealant used for the floor.
Please refer to the 6/24/25 All Staff email for information on the SDS sheets.

Foundation:
A heartfelt thank you to the Commencement Committee for creating such a meaningful and memorable celebration. Shoreline’s student-first spirit was on full display. This is truly a community that lifts one another up, and the shared joy and support were powerful reminders of what makes SCC so special. We also appreciate the Committee’s efforts to help us raise awareness of our new and improved Alumni Network!
We are wrapping up awarding for the 2025-2026 scholarship cycle. We’re excited to see results from some of the improvements implemented this year. Some quick data:
We are currently preparing for Summer-quarter scholarship disbursement, which will be the first disbursement through our new process with the Financial Aid office. We look forward to sharing more data with campus and will continue to refine our scholarship process over the next year.
As a reminder, we have transitioned to only one scholarship cycle a year. All funds for 2025-2026 have been awarded and we will open the application window for 2026-2027 funds next January.
