Community Book Read Event with Anastasia Tolbert, Wed., Jan. 25

Join us for a Community Book Read event featuring Anastacia Renee Tolbert this Wed., Jan. 25 from 10:30-11:30 a.m. in the PUB Quiet Dining Room (9208).

Anastacia Renee Tolbert is a queer super-shero of color moonlighting as a writer, performance artist and creative writing workshop facilitator. She has received awards and fellowships from Cave Canem, Hedgebrook, VONA, Jack Straw, Ragdale and Artist Trust. She was recently selected as the 2015-16 poet-in-residence at Hugo House, a place for writers in Seattle. Her Chapbook 26, recently published by Dancing Girl Press, is an abbreviated alphabet expression of the lower and uppercase lives of women and girls.

Anastacia will be here for a series of workshops on Wed., Jan. 25, Tues., Feb. 7, and Wed., Feb. 22. All workshops will take place in the PUB, and each workshop will be connected to one of the stories from our book selection Octavia’s Brood: Science Fiction Stories from Social Justice Movements. The first story for this Wednesday is from co-editor Walida Imarisha, “Black Angel,” and each workshop is designed to work for participants whether they have the read the story or not.

Board of Trustees Study Session & Regular Meeting, Wed., Jan. 25

The Board of Trustees will be holding its Regular Meeting on Wednesday, January 25, 2017 at 4:30 PM. A Study Session is scheduled to precede the Regular Meeting at 3:00 PM and will be called to order in the Board Room (#1010M). The Board will then move to room 2926 in building 2900 for the Study Session and will return to the Board Room (#1010M) for its Regular Meeting.  Thank you.
