Annual Fire Alarm Testing Aug. 29 – Sept. 2

The annual testing of the fire systems across campus will occur the week of Aug. 29 to Sept. 2, 2016. For safety purposes – if an alarm should sound, it will be brief in comparison to an actual alarm. We apologize for any inconvenience and sincerely appreciate your cooperation with this mandated testing of our life-safety systems. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact Safety & Security Director Robin Blacksmith at ext. 4503. Thank you!

A message from President Roberts: Campus winter closure

Dear Colleague,

As we move into fall quarter, I would like to announce that Shoreline Community College will be closed December 26-30, 2016 in observance of the winter holiday break with all offices on campus closed during this time. College employees will be taking leave and no services will be available to the public during this period. Please note that the campus will continue to be patrolled during the closure by Safety and Security personnel.

Classified staff should take advantage of professional learning opportunities that will be offered in order to earn compensatory time for the winter closure. Please watch for additional information on this in the coming weeks. Please note this week is meant for the College to be closed and only those employees working on pre-approved essential projects will be on campus during the closure.

The College will reopen on Tuesday, January 3, 2017, following observance of the New Year’s Day holiday. Winter quarter classes will begin January 9, 2017.

Thank you,
President Cheryl Roberts, Ed.D.

Update on the search for Dean of Advanced Technology and Workforce

Good morning,

I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to give you information about the status of the Dean of Advanced Technology and Workforce position. Let me begin by expressing my gratitude to the screening committee, who did an outstanding job with the process and the search.

In the end, the search was unsuccessful. At this time, we are reevaluating the position designation and working to determine our next steps prior to re-opening the position. In the interim, Guy Hamilton has graciously agreed to assume the additional leadership role in the Automotive programs, and will keep limited hours in the Automotive Building.

During this period, the Workforce Education programs will report directly to me in the office of Academic and Student Affairs.

Thank you for your patience during this transition time. I’m looking forward to  working alongside you as we welcome the new academic year!

With best regards,

Alison Stevens

Executive VP, Academic and Student Affairs
