Winter Quarter Scholarships

Dear Colleagues,

The Foundation’s winter quarter scholarship application is open to students through December 7. Please help us spread the word.

The following email went out to students earlier this week. 

Dear Students,

The Shoreline Community College Foundation’s winter quarter scholarship application is now open through Monday, December 7, 2020. See the instructions below on how to apply.

Each quarter Shoreline Community College Foundation awards scholarships to students studying the following fields:

• Criminal Justice
• Studio Arts
• Automotive
• Philosophy
• Automotive
• Nursing
• Music

In addition, we offer scholarships to First Nations students, students with disabilities, and students with a minimum GPA of 2.0. The amounts and number of scholarships awarded vary from quarter to quarter based on available funding.

Full-time, part-time, international, and undocumented students are eligible to apply.

Scholarships will be awarded the week of December 21st.

To get started:

  1. Create your user account by navigating to https://shoreline.awardspring.com/. If you created a user account in the past, sign-in with the credentials you used when setting up your account.
  2. Click “Register”.
  3. Enter all of the required information, click the agreement box, then click the “Create Account” button.
  4. Once registration is complete, you will be directed to your Dashboard.

Application Instructions

  1. Sign in to your account at https://shoreline.awardspring.com/.
  2. Click the “Start Application” button to begin filling out your application.
  3. Click the “Submit Application” button in the lower right corner. (Note: The “Submit Application” button is disabled until the application is complete.)
  4. You will be directed back to your Dashboard where you will see the number of scholarships to which you have been automatically applied.
  5. You may be eligible for additional scholarships that require additional information. The Dashboard will prompt you to provide this by showing a number in the “Items requiring completion” box.
  6. After completing all follow-up items for the scholarship, click the “Resubmit Application” button to submit your application. (Note: If there are no follow-up items that need to be completed, you do not need to resubmit your application.)
  7. Proceed through all Follow-Up items for all scholarships listed until you see “0 items requiring completion” on your Dashboard.

Note:

An application for Shoreline CC Foundation scholarships does not take place of the Financial Aid application. All students, excluding international students, are encouraged to complete the FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid) or the WASFA (for HB 1079 students) application for the current year, in addition to the scholarship application. Join us for the Imagine Possible Student Success Fundraiser, Oct. 20

Join us for Imagine Possible, Shoreline Community College Foundation’s 23rd Annual Student Success Fundraiser!   Hosted by Jim Dever of King5 Evening, it will be a fun evening with performances by soul recording artist Andy Stokes, Jeffrey Kashiwa, the Shoreline Choir, and powerful personal stories.

This year’s inspirational event will be live streamed Tuesday, October 20th from 7:00 p.m. – 8:15 p.m. So grab a festive beverage, tune in at shoreline.edu/success, and enjoy the evening.

Please join The Foundation for an evening of celebration and inspiration to support Student Success Scholarships. This year’s event will be live streamed Tuesday, October 20 from 7:00 p.m. – 8:15 p.m. This virtual event will be hosted by Jim Dever of KING5 Evening.

All proceeds go to financial support for Shoreline students.

Foundation Scholarships and Emergency Support update

Alysen Laasko, Foundation Manager of Scholarships and Emergency Support, has accepted a position at Lake Washington Tech Foundation. Her last day is February 5.

Until her position is filled, Foundation Scholarships and Emergency Support will continue to be conducted from the 5000 Building (FOSS), Room 5218 from 9:00 am to 3:30 pm Monday – Friday.

We are thankful that Karla Belmonte, Executive Assistant for Advancement and Foundation, will assist students on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and Pilar Corder, Executive Assistant for Employee Engagement, will assist students on Tuesday and Thursday.
