SCC Bracken Tree Removal

Hello Campus Community,

As part of the construction schedule for the Bracken building (STEAM), the contractor will need to prep the site by removing some trees.  Starting Friday, 6/7, we’ll have the project arborist onsite to assess the trees for this project.  Bayley, the contractor, will start removal and protection of trees next week (6/10).  There will be large equipment and loud noise on the northwest side of campus during this time.  Below is a map that indicates which trees will be removed, what trees will be protected, and how many trees we will be adding back upon completion.  Feel free to reach out if you have any questions.

Thank you,

Kimberlee Clark

Parking Closures for STEAM (Bracken)Project

Dear Campus Community,

As work begins for the new STEAM (Bracken) building, we will be seeing closures of campus parking within the coming week. Please refer to the photo below for reference.

  • Friday, 05/31/2024, the southernmost section of the Upper Event Lot located south of Bldg. 2000 (indicated by the yellow box) will be closed for the duration of the project for construction parking.
    • This section has seen zero staff or student use since college returned from COVID-19 pandemic operations and should therefore have no impact on campus operations.
  • Thursday, 06/06/2024, the top section of the Upper Event Lot and the parking immediately west of Bldg. 1600 will be closed for the duration of the project for construction parking, construction lay down, and construction trailers.
    • This will eliminate the two electric vehicle charging stations west of Bldg. 1600.
      • We are working to bring the 7 new stations north of Bldg. 6000 online before the 1600 stations go down.
      • It is possible that these stations will close before 06/06/2024 as changes have to be made in order to utilize the electrical power for construction.
    • This will eliminate the motorcycle parking and daily parking permit pay station in this area.
    • Access to the smoking shelter will still be open.
  • The green lines indicate vehicle access that will remain open.
  • The blue line indicates a pedestrian access that will remain open that connects the Lower Event Lot and bottom half of the Upper Event Lot to the main campus area.
  • There will be sporadic closures of other areas throughout the construction process, as much advanced notice as possible will be given for those.

If you have any questions, feel free to email safetyandsecurity@shoreline.edu

Respectfully,

Your Department of Safety & Security
