Free Google Drive training

The Google Drive drop-in sessions that took place last year will happen again this year too.  The classes planned for this quarter will be in the library classroom (4214) on Tuesday Oct. 22, 10:30-11:20 a.m. and Tuesday Oct. 29, 1:30-2:20 p.m.  The classes cover the uses of Google Drive for file management, cloud storage and the basics on how to use and organize Google Drive for academic use.

Please share this information with your students (particularly if you’re experiencing any difficulty with students utilizing it for your classes), and consider announcing this workshop in your Canvas classroom.  All students, faculty and staff are welcome in the drop-ins.

Faculty and Staff of Color conference

The annual Faculty and Staff of Color conference offers a wealth of resources, contact, and support for faculty, classified staff, administrators and other employees. It will take place from Wednesday, Oct. 30 until Friday, Nov. 1, at the Davenport Hotel in Spokane. Participants will have opportunities to discuss issues and share strategies that promote student success, organizational development, and career opportunities and advancement. The issues we address in this conference are central to the future of higher education in Washington and our campus communities. We invite you to use the conference as a resource for learning about meaningful ways to define the vital ties between diversity and higher education in Washington.

If you would like to attend the Faculty and Staff of Color conference, The Center for Equity and Engagement will partially fund classified staff and faculty members. We have funding to pay the conference registration fee ($225) and shared lodging cost for a limited number of participants.  To supplement the remaining cost of the conference, please request funds from your department/division along with Faculty Professional Development funds or Classified Training and Staff Development funds. http://intranet.shoreline.edu/classified-pro-d/application-forms.aspx

If you are interested in attending the FSoC Conference please contact Jamie Ardeña in the Multicultural Center (206) 533-6618 – jardena@shoreline.edu by noon Tuesday, October 1.  Early bird registration ends on October 2.
