The college is represented at a variety of outreach and recruiting events throughout the year. A few past highlights include:

• Special events on campus, such as NW SolarFest Sustainable Living Fair
• Outreach activities a variety of community events, such as the Shoreline & Lake Forest Park farmers markets, the Celebrate Shoreline Festival and the Shoreline Back to School Fair
• Visits to numerous area high schools, both in the nearby vicinity and farther ranging from Auburn to Port Angeles
• On-campus tours for prospective students and families, community groups, and on-site event participants

Turning toward upcoming events over the fall quarter, the focus shifts primarily toward a variety of high school events and college fairs. The largest major event will be the Seattle National College Fair, November 1-2. The automotive faculty are also collaborating with outreach at the Seattle Automotive Show, November 15.

Coordination around campus outreach events is one function of the Recruiters Roundtable group. Facilitated by Communications & Marketing, this team meets monthly to discuss outreach events among staff who are primarily focused on outward-facing recruitment. This group has created a shared master Recruiting Events calendar, which all Shoreline staff are welcome to review at any time (instructions below). If you know of faculty/staff who are attending recruiting events out in the community or especially visiting high schools, please contact Amy Stapleton prior to the event to coordinate plans. From your personal Outlook calendar left sidebar, right-click on “Other Calendars”, then “Add Calendar”, choose “From Address Book”. Select recruitingevents@shoreline.edu and OK. You can now view all other Recruiting Events that have been indicated by other recruiters across campus. If you wish to join or learn more about an event, contact the event owner directly.

Friday, October 11 will be our first (of three) Campus Budget Update meetings this quarter. We will gather in the Main Dining Room of Building 9000 (Pagoda Union Building – PUB) and start promptly at 1:30 p.m., concluding our session at 3:00 p.m.

Last spring quarter, we announced that our first Campus Budget Update meeting would inform our program review and budget planning process. The meeting will feature three speakers:

• Dr. Anneliese Vance-Sherman, Regional Labor Economist with the Economic Security Department, who will provide a demographic and economic forecast as context for our program review process.
• John Boesenberg, Deputy Executive Director of the State Board for Community & Technical Colleges (SBCTC), who will provide background on our state allocation model and how it is distributed to the 34 community and technical college districts.
• Bill Saraceno, Interim Chief Financial Officer, who will provide a budget, financial, and administrative services update.

Each speaker will have approximately 20 minutes to present, as well as time for questions and answers.

Questions and comments may be submitted ahead of the meeting. Feedback will be collected until Thursday, October 10 at 4:00 p.m. via an online feedback form as well as physical comment boxes in the following locations:

As of last week, we received one question online and have provided a response.

Please also mark your calendars for the November 8 and December 5 Campus Budget Update meetings. These sessions will provide budget, financial, and administrative services updates, with the majority of our time devoted to clarifying information and answering questions. Both meetings will take place 1:30-3:00 p.m. in the Main Dining Room of Building 9000 (Pagoda Union Building – PUB).
