Campuswide Earthquake Drill on 10/20/16

Where will you be at 10:20 a.m. on Thursday? Join us for the Great Washington Shakeout!

All students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to “drop, cover, and hold” wherever you are on campus at 10:20 a.m. On Thursday, October 20, 2016. Here’s what to do:

  • Faculty members: Please plan to devote 5 minutes of class to this statewide drill at 10:20 a.m. And encourage your students to take part in it.
  • At 10:20 a.m., drop to the ground, take cover under a sturdy desk or table, and hold on for 30 seconds. Then remind your friends and colleagues to review Shoreline’s emergency plan to be prepared in the event of a real earthquake.
  • From 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. in the PUB lobby, please stop by for a special demonstration by Safety & Security of our Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) and Stryker evacuation chairs.

AVID Fair on campus Thurs., Oct. 20

screen-shot-2016-10-18-at-4-25-08-pm
Shoreline will be hosting an AVID Fair (Advancement via Individual Determination) Thurs., Oct. 20 from 9:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. The fair will be held in the PUB Main Dining Room with 30 colleges representing their school for 20 high schools who will be attending. We anticipate hosting potential students to our campus from as far away as Walla Walla and Olympia. Shoreline Community College current students are encouraged to talk to four-year college representatives as well.

The Quiet Dining Room will be used as a hospitality suite for college representatives, high school counselors, and teachers. Every effort will be made to provide ample seating and eating areas for our current students. This is a three-hour block of time that will provide many to see our beautiful campus and plan on attending Shoreline Community College.

Please say hi to these future students and let Amy Stapleton know if you have any questions or concerns at astaplet@shoreline.edu or extension 7841.

Innovation Fund application deadline is Oct. 21

The Innovation and Opportunities Reserve (“Innovation Fund”) is intended to finance new and outstanding ideas proposed by students, faculty, or staff. Proposals should be innovative – they should not have been done at Shoreline Community College before. In addition, they should benefit the college (students, faculty, staff, etc.), either financially or otherwise.

Fall Quarter deadline:  October 21, 2016. Find out more information about The Innovation Fund and how to apply here.
