GAC Presents: Reckoning with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, Thurs., Nov. 3

duerteGAC Presents: Reckoning with Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, PUB 9208
Thurs., Nov. 3: 7-8:30 p.m.

Featuring guest speaker Vicente Rafael, University of Washington, Jackson School of International Studies.

Since the inauguration of President Rodrigo Duterte on June 30, the Philippines has received much attention in the media, unfortunately not all of it good. President Duterte’s domestic policy to date has focused on combating illegal drug trade by initiating a nationwide drug war that has already resulted in more than 2,000 murders. Now he says he is cutting off military relations with the U.S. and has welcomed new relations with China.

Additional support provided by the Center for Global Studies, Henry M. Jackson School
of International Studies, UW.
