Reminder: Please complete Commute Trip Reduction (CTR) Survey by 5PM, May 3, 2019

Dear Colleague,

It’s time for our periodic commute trip reduction (CTR) survey! In order to comply with Washington law, Shoreline Community College is required to conduct this survey and to request that each CTR-covered employee complete it.

You are a CTR-covered employee if all of these apply to you:

• You work more than 35 hours per week
• You are scheduled to report to a single worksite between 6:00 and 9:00 a.m.
• You work on two or more weekdays
• Your position is intended to last at least a year

If all of these apply to you, please take the CTR survey by following the instructions at the bottom of this e-mail. Otherwise, please disregard the remainder of this e-mail and do not take the survey.

Please complete the CTR survey online, following the instructions below. If you haven’t already done so, please submit the survey by Friday, May 3rd, at 5:00 p.m. The survey will be closed after Friday, May 3rd, by the end of the day (5:00 p.m.).

All CTR-covered survey participants will be entered in a prize drawing to receive one of two preloaded $30 Orca cards, a $25 Amazon gift card, or a $15 Starbucks gift card. (These prizes are provided by King County, not the College.)

Completing the survey should take less than five minutes of your time. The questions focus on how you commute to and from work. Data collected through the survey will be used by the state to plan for transportation improvements. College staff will also review response rates, summary data, and comments.

If you have any questions, please contact Mary Lou Ames in Safety and Security at (206) 546-4633, or at: mames@shoreline.edu. Thank you for your participation!

Sincerely,
Edwin Lucero, Director
Safety, Security & Emergency Management

Staff Parking Lot (adjacent to building 1400): Closed on Friday, March 29 for Repaving Work

The small staff parking lot adjacent to building 1400 will be closed all day on Friday, March 29, 2019 for repaving. Work will include the resurfacing of the lot, striping of stalls, as well as creating an accessible path from the west parking lots.

The lot is expected to be reopened the morning of Monday, April 1.

While we have timed this for a Friday during the break to minimize the impact to our campus community and neighbors, noise and odor result from paving work. While the noise and odor are anticipated to be minimal, should you require a temporary relocation or any other accommodation, please contact Human Resources at (206) 546-5880.

Thank you for your patience and support while we work to improve this vital connection into campus.

Sincerely,
Jason Francois
Director-Facilities

Reminder: Fire evacuation drill in FOSS, March 29

On Friday, March 29th, 2019, at 2:00 PM, Safety & Security will be conducting a Fire Evacuation Drill in Building 5000 (FOSS). This drill is designed to give students, staff, and visitors the opportunity to practice emergency procedures in a simulated but safe environment. This also gives employees tasked with emergency duties (Safety & Security and Building Evacuation Monitors) an opportunity to train for emergency situations.

The alarm will be triggered at 2:00 PM and all occupants must evacuate the building and will be directed to designated assembly areas. Safety & Security and Building Evacuation Monitors will be conducting sweeps of the building to ensure all occupants are out and safe. Once the building has been confirmed as clear, the alarm will be silenced, the drill will be completed, and occupants will be allowed to enter the building and resume their normal activities.

Please note, if you are in the building when the alarm sounds, it is MANDATORY that you evacuate.

If you have any questions. Please contact the Safety & Security Department in Room 5102.
