Parking Alert for Wed., Nov. 4 & Wednesdays Throughout November

This Wed., Nov. 4, Shoreline’s campus will be hosting the Shoreline Rotary Club meeting from 7-8:30 a.m. About 40 extra cars will be on campus at this time, parking in areas between the PUB lot and the 1300 building. Leave yourself extra time to get around campus and find parking on this day.

This is the first of four weekly meetings the Rotary will be holding on campus through the month of November. They will meet from 7-8:30 a.m. in the PUB Quiet Dining Room (9208) every Wednesday on November 4, 11, 18 and 25. Leave yourself extra time on these days.

REMINDER – PARKING ALERT: Large Conference on Campus Fri., Oct. 23

On Fri. Oct. 23, the International Education department will host approximately 100 educators from around the state for a large conference called “From Peril to Hope.” The timeframe will range from 8 a.m. arrivals to 3:30-4 p.m. departures. The primary meeting will be mostly in the PUB Main Dining Room, but then there will be break-out sessions spread around campus. Here are critical things you need to be aware of:

  • Parking is complimentary this day. The six meters will be signed to welcome this association and state parking is complimentary.
  • The guests will park all over campus, so no parking enforcement this date, except in the case of course of illegal parking.
  • There will also be messaging made from IE to their guests that overflow parking is available at the Greenwood and Sears lots. The Sears shuttle will be fully staffed through the peak afternoon hours of 2-4 p.m. in the event some folks park at the Sears lot to take advantage of the extra space there.

Please leave yourself extra time to get to and from campus this day.

Reminder: Great Washington Shakeout Drill at 10:15 on 10/15

Where will you be at 10:15 on 10/15 for the Great Washington Shakeout?

Wherever you are, Shoreline Community College will be sending a test message as part the college’s participation in this statewide earthquake preparedness awareness effort. The Great Washington Shakeout is scheduled for 10:15 a.m. on October 15 as part of a national program.

At Shoreline, college officials suggest three things to get ready for the Great Washington Shakeout:

  • HOLD ON to it until the shaking stops

In addition, demonstrations of Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) and Stryker evacuation chairs will take place from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 15, in the lobby of the gym.

Automatic External Defibrillators (AED) and Stryker Evacuation Chairs Safety Demonstration, Oct. 15

As part of the GREAT SHAKE OUT drill on Oct. 15, Security Sergeant Edwin Lucero will be providing demonstrations on Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) and Stryker Chairs on Thurs, Oct. 15, from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. in the Gym Lobby, Building 3000.

If you would like to learn a little more about these life-saving devices, please come by! New maps of where the devices are located will be available. The more familiar you are with this equipment, the more likely you are to use them during an emergency.
