Dell computer issues fixed

Recent Dell computer issues were fixed as of Friday Feb. 8th —– Hardware failures that were preventing a large number of computers in the 4102 lab from booting up and functioning, problems with some faculty & staff computers on campus randomly shutting down and re-booting, and a few other isolated issues possibly due to Windows and network driver updates, began surfacing on Friday Jan. 18th.

TSS staff, working with Dell-contracted technicians, got malfunctioning motherboards & hardware components replaced, updates fixed, and the systems working again.

Wireless issue resolved

For just over a week the wireless connection “SCC Student Wi-Fi” had not been working for quite a few devices.  This issue has been fixed as of Monday morning, Sept 4.

Brief email outage at 1:20p

Email service was interrupted briefly at approximately 1:20p due to an issue with a load-balanced server

Security Vulnerability in Windows Gadgets & Sidebar

Windows Gadgets (a feature of Windows 7) and Sidebar (a feature of Windows Vista) have been disabled due to a security vulnerability. Microsoft has indicated that this will be the permanent fix to the vulnerability.
