Waves of Gratitude

Waves of Gratitude for Tigist Stanghor of Financial Aid for Inclusive Excellence and Respect. Every day I am grateful that Tigist exists in the world. Without her, our Workforce grants would not be processed. Even with tons of staffing changes and transitioning to CTCLink, Tigist manages to make time to help resolve student issues that come up. She is always gracious with people as issues arise. I know that everyone in the Workforce Office has such deep respect and gratitude for Tigist. Waves of Gratitude for Douglas Haub of Administrative Services for Inclusive Excellence and Community Engagement for demystifying ctcLink and being a much-needed source of positivity during challenging times! Douglas consistently goes above and beyond to help anyone who is struggling to understand how to do their work in ctcLink. He has created so many resources that employees across campus now rely on to ensure that key processes run smoothly. And when explaining difficult material, Douglas is always encouraging and supportive. I really could not understand this stuff without that kind of positivity keeping me going. THANK YOU! Safety & Security Tips for Life on Campus

A message from Safety and Security:

Welcome back to campus! As we enter the first full week of the Fall Quarter, I wanted to take this opportunity to provide some tips from the Safety & Security Department.

Campus Security – We have a uniformed officer on campus and on duty 24/7/365. Our personnel are trained and equipped to respond to a vast variety of calls that include but are not limited to, medical emergencies, security emergencies, and calls for assistance.

To reach our team during business hours, call 206-546-4633, or visit the Safety & Security Office in the Foss Building, Room 5102.

After hours or if the office does not answer, the on-duty Campus Security Officer can be reached at 206-235-5860

Courtesy Services – Our department provides vehicle lockout assistance, vehicle jumpstarts, security escorts, and more!

Department Information – If you visit the Safety & Security website you can find additional resources and information readily at your fingertips. https://www.shoreline.edu/safetyandsecurity/

  • The Annual Security and Fire Report
  • Campus Crime Log (Updated weekly)
  • Emergency Management Resources (including Active Shooter training videos)
  • Information regarding Parking Citation appeals, campus shuttle services, and more!

Tips – With the current state of regional crime trends, here are a few tips that can help you in having a wonderful experience here at Shoreline:

  • Catalytic Converter Engraving Event, open to all current Shoreline Community College students, faculty, and staff
    • Thursday, October 13th from 9:00 AM – 2:00 PM; check in at the tent that will be located in the lower parking lot by Building 2000 (VCT/Art Building)
  • Park in high traffic and well-lit areas. Criminals don’t typically like having an audience while they work.
  • Remove all valuables from your vehicle and remove items from view.
    • Even if a bag only has dirty gym clothes in it, a prowler may break in hoping it contains valuables.
  • If you observe a suspicious person or vehicle on campus, call security.
  • Always keep your phone and photo ID on your person in the event that you need to contact assistance.
  • If you witness or observe concerning behavior or posts on social media, report it
  • If you ever have any questions, thoughts, or concerns, you can always talk to a Campus Security Officer, stop by the office, or send an email to safetyandsecurity@shoreline.edu

Respectfully,

Gregory Cranson
