Team Tammi Scholarship Walk
Shoreline staff, faculty, and students are invited to take part in the Team Tammi Scholarship Walk, which raises money for the Tammi O’Brien Shanks Memorial Nursing Scholarship for nursing students at Shoreline Community College.
The walk takes place at Greenlake on Dec. 1, 2018 at 10 a.m.
Tammi O’Brien Shanks was a nursing graduate of Shoreline Community College and worked at NW Hospital. She died on November 30, 2008 waiting for a lung transplant. Her children started this fundraiser to raise money for the Tammi O’Brien Shanks Memorial Nursing Scholarship for nursing students at Shoreline Community College. The family likes the Green Lake walk after Thanksgiving as it commemorates Tammi’s death and it also raises awareness to celebrate health lungs and lose some extra Thanksgiving weight! The family invites all Shoreline staff, faculty, and students to join in for the fun and exercise while raising funds for a great scholarship in memory of an inspirational woman and nurse.
Suggested donation of $50 and you can also fundraise if you’d like by asking friends and family to support the walk.
Walkers will meet at Greenlake at the entrance of the west side parking lot (look for the green balloons) and walk/run around Greenlake at 10:00am. It is next to the crew center and the old aqua theatre. WEAR GREEN!!!
DEADLINE EXTENDED: 1964 Society Faculty Professional Development Scholarship
The deadline has been extended to November 9, 2018 at 5 pm for the 1964 Society Faculty Professional Development Scholarship. The Shoreline Community College Foundation created the scholarship to provide funds in perpetuity for faculty to use toward their professional development. In certain years, this scholarship may be awarded to full-time faculty, associate faculty or faculty in specific areas of study at the discretion of the Foundation Board of Directors.
The current annual award is $1,100 and may increase over the years depending on the investment earnings. Associate faculty may apply now (details on the Foundation webpage) for the 2018-19 award.
The deadline is 5:00 p.m. on Friday, November 9 and the awardee will be notified on December 1. For questions, please contact Karla Belmonte, Office of Advancement.
Website Changes Are Coming Next Week!

On Monday, November 5, we’ll be updating the styles of our website and implementing a revised menu header. These changes will happen on shoreline.edu (not the intranet). In the following weeks, they will also happen on catalog.shoreline.edu as well as the class schedule and campus directory.
What does this mean?
- You’ll see new fonts, colors, left menu layout, heading sizes, and button shapes. Content will not change at this point – just the look and feel of the site.
- The secondary menu in the header (above the main menu) has been streamlined and will include new options for Contact, Visit, Give, and Apply.
- Links to Current Students, International, and Class Schedule will appear on the left side of the secondary menu.
- We are removing the “Information for” drop-down list from the header. Links to Faculty & Staff, Alumni, and Employers will move to the footer of the site. The search bar will be moved to the right side of the screen.
Do I need to do anything different the week of November 5?
Between November 5-7, we ask that you do not make any changes at all to your pages.
- If you need to make a change during that time, please expect some delays. If it’s an urgent change that needs to happen immediately (such as incorrect contact information or dates), please let websupport@shoreline.edu know.
- Event Submissions – You will still be able to submit events to the College Calendar. These changes should not impact that process or the appearance of your events.
What should I do if I notice any style or formatting errors or glitches?
Please e-mail websupport@shoreline.edu after November 7 if you notice any of the following issues, and please avoid trying to fix them yourself:
- Headings that look out of proportion
- Buttons are not stacking correctly or are misaligned
- Contact box text is misaligned or missing
- Images are oddly cropped or missing
- Video or play button is missing
- Table information is not displaying properly
Does this mean the website redesign work is done?
No, more website redesign work will continue as we launch new pages for academic programs in early 2019, and then we’ll overhaul other sections of the site (including Apply & Aid pages, student support pages, the Current Students page, the home page, and menus). Please watch for more messages about these changes in the coming weeks.
Thank you!
