A message from Financial Aid regarding a phone scam targeting students

On March 7, 2017, Shoreline Community College became aware of a telephone scam that may be targeting our students. The female caller does not identify herself or the company she represents. She states, “We have an update and everything is going great for your student loan documentation preparation process. Please give us a call, we need something important to finish up your documents” and asks “Please call 312-690-9918 to get an update, so we can finish your file”.

Students should not return this call, it is not legitimate. The Financial Aid Office at Shoreline Community College has reported this telephone phone scam and the telephone number to the Education office of the Inspector General.

If you receive a message from the Financial Aid Office at Shoreline Community College we will always identify ourselves as being from Shoreline, provide our name, and then discuss the reason for our call.
