Announcing your events

If you submit an event to the college calendar, chances are PIO will try to convert that into a Facebook event too. This is one way that we try to magnify the reach and participation for campus events.

Look at Joyce Fagel’s UW Transfer Information Session as an example.

It’s on the calendar and in the calendar post there’s a link to Facebook where the sessions are all posted as Facebook events so students can RSVP and/or share the event with their Facebook friends.  Even further, we put it out via the college’s Twitter account.

After all that, if you email people about your event, you can include links to any of those items; the Facebook event, the calendar permalink etc.  This way, your email won’t be isolated. Instead, it will consolidate (and propagate) all the communication streams and entry points for your one great event!
