Campus Updates 03/03/22

Hi Campus Community,

Here are this week’s updates!

RETURN TO CAMPUS/COVID-19

Case

1 new positive case reported in the last 7 days.

Masking

  • The Executive Team is considering how the following county, state, and federal masking changes will affect the College’s indoor mask mandate for spring quarter:
  • The CDC updated its guidance on the use of masks based on the level of COVID-19 in the local community. Currently, the community level in King County is identified as “Low,” so CDC’s guidance is to 1) Stay up to date with COVID-19 vaccines and 2) Get tested if you have symptoms. CDC advises that people with symptoms, a positive test, or exposure to someone with COVID-19 should wear a mask.
  • Please provide feedback via this survey.
  • Executive Team will review survey feedback and announce a decision about indoor masking for spring quarter by March 15th, prior to registration opening for continuing students.

Building open hours update

  • As of March 1, the PUB/9000 building is open:
  • 6:30 am – 8 pm Monday – Thursday
  • 6:30 am – 5 pm Friday
  • Closed: weekends/holidays (except for scheduled events)
  • The Library in the 4000 building is open:
  • 8am-5 pm Monday – Thursday
  • 8am-4:30 pm Fridays

Vaccines

  • The COVID-19 clinic operated on campus from August 2021 through February 2022 and provided approximately 30,000 vaccines to the community. The College received a message from Todd Wollum, Shoreline Fire Department’s Campus Vaccine Clinic Supervisor, thanking us for collaborating on the community vaccination effort: “I cannot tell you how much we have appreciated the partnership and support from the College.”
  • Vaccine sites continue to operate in the Shoreline area for people ages 5 and up still needing to initiate or complete a vaccine series or receive a booster. Schedule an appointment for your free vaccine at:
  • Walgreen Drug Store – 145th and Aurora:  Moderna

Tests:

  • Washington state residents can order more free tests during the month of March, while supplies last. You can place two orders of five tests each.
  • The federal government is offering every home in the U.S. four free at-home COVID-19 tests and starting next week, every home in the U.S. will be able to order an additional set of 4 tests.
  • Federal guidelines on coverage of over-the-counter (OTC) at-home COVID-19 tests call for your health plan to cover the cost of FDA authorized OTC at-home tests without cost sharing during the public health emergency and without need for a provider’s order.

Parking

Parking on campus remains free for spring quarter; no permits will be required but hazardous/illegal parking will accrue fines.
