International Education Week 2021

International Education Week (IEW), November 15-19, 2021, is an opportunity to celebrate the benefits of international education and exchange worldwide. This joint initiative of the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Education is part of our efforts to promote programs that prepare Americans for a global environment and attract future leaders from abroad to study, learn, and exchange experiences. International Express Pulls into the PUB

As we were invited, the International Education office provided one of the two scheduled Classified Voluntary Trainings on Saturday, June 22 (9 – 12:30).  The session was called “International Express” in the sense of an express train — representing a quick overview of IE, China and Intercultural Training.  Additionally, the ‘express’ represents the fast-growing field of international education in general.

Cynthia Okawara, Academic Advisor, Yifan Sun, Manager of International Education/China Specialist, and myself  put together a three-part presentation consisting of the following outcomes.

Learning Outcomes
As a result of “riding” in the “International Express”

•You will be introduced to the members of the International Education Office.
•You will gain understanding of students particularly representing from China.
•You will gain understanding of your own culture and how it influences the way we view and interact with people.

Overall, we felt that the training was well received.

As we will have a different set of presenters for Friday, 28th, I can’t guarantee whether the content will remain the same.
