UPDATE: Sidewalk Construction Project

This is an update regarding campus road closures and King County Metro closures that will occur due to work along NW Innis Arden Way:

  • Main Gate Closure:
    • Tuesday, 7/22 – Tuesday, 8/5
      • During this closure, the East Gate and West Gate will be open to enter campus.
      • During this closure, the East Gate, West Gate, and Exit Only will be open to exit campus. 
    • During this closure, King County Metro buses will not stop on campus. All routes that pick up on campus will be moved to stops on NW Innis Arden Way and Greenwood Ave N.
      • Access the King County Metro route revisions by clicking the following link KCM Schedules and maps
        • Search for your Route # and all service advisories affecting that route will be noted near the top of the page.
    • During this closure, a temporary ADA accessible sidewalk will be placed connecting the existing NW Innis Arden Way sidewalk and the campus sidewalk just inside the Main Gate.
  • Exit Only Closure:
    • Thursday, 8/28 – Wednesday, 9/17
      • During this closure, the East Gate, West Gate, and Main Gate will be open to enter campus.
      • During this closure, the East Gate, Main Gate, and West Gate will be open to exit campus. 
    • During this closure, King County Metro buses will not stop on campus. All routes that pick up on campus will be moved to stops on NW Innis Arden Way and Greenwood Ave N.

Water Leak in the 9000 Building – 7//24/2025

We had some flooding in 9000 this evening that impacted 9101 Ebbtide, 9201 Multicultural Center, and the 1st floor south entryway.

Custodial and maintenance have cleaned up the water and are currently drying out the spaces.  These areas will be closed while drying.

The cause of the leak has been identified and resolved.

Weekend Parking Update – Saturday, 7/19

There are upcoming events that will have a major impact on campus parking on Saturday, July 19th, 2025. 

  1. VW Vintage Meet Up
    • The following parking lots will be closed from approximately, Friday 7/18/25 at 10:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Saturday 7/19/25.
      • Gravel Event Lots south of Building 2000: All lots in the area not already closed for construction will be closed for this event. The roadway leading back to the Shoreline Dog Park will remain open.
      • All north campus parking lots and roadways: The road will be blocked off and closed at the northwest corner of Building 2100. The road will be blocked off and closed at the Building 2900 Annex. 
    • The lots that are closed will be holding the VW Vintage Car Show and Swap Meet event venues. In addition, it is expected that over 500 attendees will visit the event throughout the day, and will be utilizing open parking on the East, West, and South sides of campus.
  2. Seattle Metro Pickleball Association – Seattle Metro Classic
    • The Seattle Metro Classic tournament is being held July 15 – July 20 at Shoreview Park.
    • The college assists with this event every year providing parking for event overflow parking. Those attending the event will likely also impact the parking lots on the West and South sides of campus.

    It is currently expected that the West Gate will re-open by end of day Friday, 7/18.

    Heat Wave Safety Tips

    During the high temperatures anticipated this week, please see the following guidance for staying safe while working.

    HEAT SAFETY TIPS:

    • Ensure proper hydration.
      • Drink plenty of water throughout your shift, and don’t wait until you are thirsty to drink.  
      • Where possible, avoid drinks with caffeine/sugar which can increase dehydration.  
    • Take regular breaksin cooler areas.
      • Visit cooler spaces on campus (PUB Bldg 9000, Library Bldg 4000, etc) for your breaks and meal periods.
    • Reduce incoming heat and circulate air where possible.
      • Close the shades on windows receiving direct sunlight to reduce heat from entering.
      • Consider the use of fans to move air within your workspace.

    ALTERNATE CAMPUS LOCATIONS:

    Are you in a building without air conditioning and it’s too hot to work? The following campus locations have been reserved for employee use:

    • Library Computer Lab – Room 4201 
      • Tuesday, 7/15  from 8am – 5pm
      • Wednesday, 7/16 from 8am – 5pm
    • Quiet Dining Room – Room
      • Tuesday, 7/15 from 8am – 1pm
      • Wednesday, 7/16 from 8am – 1pm

    NOTE: Employees working in units without air conditioning may work with their supervisors to take leave (or request telework) as appropriate noting College units must remain staffed across business hours of Monday – Thursday, 8am to 5pm.

    SIGNS to WATCH FOR – HEAT ILLNESS:

    Infographic listing signs of heat exhaustion (faint or dizzy, excess sweating clammy skin, nausea/vomiting, rapid, weak pulse, muscle cramps) and signs of heat stroke (throbbing headache, no sweating/hot skin, body temp >103, nausea/vomiting, rapid, strong pulse, loss of consciousness). For heat exhaustions, call Safety & Security (206-235-5860), move to cooler space, drink water. For heat stroke, call 911 and take immediate action to cool the person until help arrives.

    This post is to notify you of changes to the project timeline for closures of the West Gate, Main Gate, and Exit Only. The timeline below is a tentative timeline, pending the return of permit approvals from the city.

    • West Gate Closure (EXTENDED)
      • Tuesday, July 8 – Friday, July 18
        • During this closure, the East Gate and Main Gate will be open to enter campus.
        • During this closure, the East Gate, Main Gate, and Exit Only will be open to exit campus.
    • Main Gate Closure (UPDATED)
      • Monday, July 21 – Thursday, July 31
        • During this closure, the East Gate and West Gate will be open to enter campus.
        • During this closure, the East Gate, West Gate, and Exit Only will be open to exit campus. 
        • During this closure, King County Metro buses will not stop on campus. All routes that pick up on campus will be moved to stops on NW Innis Arden Way and Greenwood Ave N.

        • During this closure, the East Gate, Main Gate, and West Gate will be open to exit campus. 
        • During this closure, King County Metro buses will not stop on campus. All routes that pick up on campus will be moved to stops on NW Innis Arden Way and Greenwood Ave N.

    Again, these dates are tentative pending return of the permits from the city and pending any other unforeseen delays. Updates will be provided as they are learned.
