Faculty and staff commencement cap and gowns (Deadline changed!)

Faculty, administrators and staff who wish to participate in the ceremony should place their cap and gown order either through Lisa Smith (Room 9301) at 206-546-5862 or online through the Herff Jones website. The deadline to order is in 2 days on April 28th. We encourage you to try the online ordering system first. Here are instructions on how to order online for faculty and staff cap & gowns.

So far, 38 have submitted their orders. Here is a list of verified orders.  I strongly suggest that those who have already submitted their orders, look at/double-check the attached list. Computer errors/glitches may occur, and there is always the chance that your order may not have processed or come through as verified, even after you push the submit button; so your name may not be on the list when you think it should be.  Please call Lisa Smith if this happens to you!

Thank you so much for your attention and understanding!!

Email Spam: Additional information

Shoreline Community College is no longer using Google’s Postini service to filter email. This change was a result of work needed to prepare for moving email to Exchange Online as part of the deployment of Office 365.

Just like Postini, email that is suspected as spam is quarantined and an email is sent daily with information of the quarantined items. There is not yet a website to manage the quarantine. Email that is blatantly spam is deleted, just as was done with Postini. The current spam filtering appears to be allowing a bit more spam through than did Postini. TSS is continuing to refine the system and investigate the best setup. It’s a learning process and we are very appreciative of your patience.

Tegrity Will Be Replaced by Panopto as Lecture-Capture Vendor for Summer Quarter

The State Board for Community and Technical Colleges (SBCTC) eLearning just announced that Panopto has been selected as the new lecture-capture vendor to replace Tegrity.

What does this mean for you?  Our content on Tegrity will need to be transitioned to Panopto by June 30, 2014, when the SBCTC eLearning’s contract with Tegrity expires.

Why do we need to change?  This decision comes out of a statewide lecture capture request for proposal (RFP) process because the SBCTC’s contract with Tegrity is expiring on June 30, 2014.  Many thanks to those SCC faculty and staff who participated in that process.

What are next steps?:  The SBCTC will negotiate a statewide contract with Panopto and then a plan will be developed on how to transition our Tegrity content to the new product.  Training will be provided.  Stay tuned.
