The Oso Landslide Project is a time-based photo documentary project that began prior to the devastating landslide of March, 2014. Eidenberg-Noppe, a hydrologist and photographer, documented the area in April 2012, March 2013, June and November of 2014, and September 2015. The collection includes large-scale panoramic photographs of a dramatically altered landscape, as well as detailed images capturing the personal effects of this powerful and tragic event. An essay about the project titled: “Reconciling Risk and Suspending Belief” is published on www.medium.com.

Laramie County Community College Visits to Learn about SCC’s Virtual Campus

laramie
A team from Laramie County Community College (LCCC) in Wyoming visited Shoreline Community College (SCC) all day on Monday, June 13th. LCCC came to SCC to learn about its Virtual Campus and associated online services, as LCCC has a grant to develop something similar. They met with staff from Academic & Student Affairs, Advising & Coaching, eLearning Services, Enrollment and Financial Aid Services, Financial Services, Instructional Media, the Library, Office of Special Services, Technology Support Services, as well as faculty leaders in eLearning.

“They asked every group what services are not available to online or remote students, and I was glad to hear over and over again that nearly all of our services are available to that student population,” said Ann Garnsey-Harter, Executive Director of the Virtual Campus, eLearning, and Instructional Technology.

Garnsey-Harter continued, “That’s a good thing because 14% of our students–that’s 1,423 unduplicated headcount–are taking all of their coursework completely online and may not be coming to our physical campus.”

PACT-new-aug12-2014_black bkgnd
American Honda Motors (AHM) continues to show support for Shoreline Community College and its Honda PACT program through donations of specialized tools for our Honda PACT students. AHM is donating two DST-i Vehicle Communications Interface Modules in support of the program. This specialized equipment allows students to interface with operating systems through the vehicle’s On-Board Diagnostic port and diagnose vehicle malfunctions. This donation, along with several new vehicle donations, is another example of the automotive industry stepping up to support technical education.
