Class Schedule updated for classes with multiple times

The initial design for Class Schedule for the new website showed “Multiple Days & Times” as the summary for class sections with labs, so students needed to open each section to see days and times. In response to campus feedback, the Web Workgroup worked with affected departments to come up with a  modified design that shows all times and days each class meets at a glance. This should make it easier for students to quickly see which classes in the schedule best meet their needs. Please see the before and after example below.

Update and Thanks from Tutoring Services

The preliminary numbers are in! This summer, Tutoring Services made 168 one-on-one tutoring matches, serving 106 unique students for a total of 670 one-on-one sessions and around 900 hours of one-on-one tutoring.

Our Biology/Chemistry Learning Center (BCLC) and VCT Open Lab (VCTOL) were also open for business. Offering 32 hours/week, the BCLC served 629 visits by 115 unique students. Open for 4 hours/week, the VCTOL welcomed 30 visits by 13 unique students. (See a list of all learning centers.)

We are grateful for the campus’s support in referring students seeking help our way and directing them where find our temporary office and tutoring location in 1103. We also appreciate the academic support many of our students found at TWLS, the MLC, and the BUSTC Learning Center this summer. Big thanks are also due to the several instructors who helped us reach out to great new tutors for subjects we had no tutors to serve (and to HR for the corresponding stacks of paperwork we sent their way). THANK YOU ALL FOR CONTRIBUTING TO TUTORING SERVICES’ WORK IN SUPPORTING OUR STUDENTS!

The Tutoring Services temporary office in 1103 will remain open through most of the break from 9 a.m. – 6 p.m. Monday-Thursday, and from 9 a.m. – noon on Friday (during summer hours) and 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m. (when we return to normal hours). Please let students know that we are available to accept applications and answer questions. We are excited to be back in the Library for fall quarter, and we will update you on hours and locations for all of our fall services closer to the start of that quarter.

Library services closed until fall 2016

Thank you everyone for your support of the Library during this extraordinary period. We have concluded public service for Summer 2016 and will begin again on the first day of Fall 2016. Our location in the PUB’s Fishbowl was a great success. Among the summer’s many accomplishments, we transitioned ID card management (to the Bookstore) and the HigherOne ATM (just inside the south 9100 entrance) into very capable hands. Student needs will be well met in these new locations.

More grand re-opening details for 4200/4300 as they become available – keep watching this space, among others. In the meantime, please direct patrons returning library items to use the book-drop boxes located at the bus stop near the parking lot or outside the west (9200-level) entrance to the PUB.
