National Disability Employment Awareness Month

Welcome to National Disability Employment Awareness Month (NDEAM). Like every October, this is the month where we celebrate individuals with disabilities in the workplace, and 2020’s theme is “Increasing Access and Opportunity.”

This year is particularly exciting because it is both the 30th Anniversary of the Americans with Disabilities Act as well as the 75th year that the U.S. has celebrated NDEAM.

We discuss accommodations and employment resources for employees with disabilities throughout the year, but this is an opportunity to remind us that Human Resources can assist with providing eligible staff and Faculty should they be able to use accommodations. We can also remind those with disabilities about resources such as the Division of Vocational Rehabilitation (DVR) and other disability-related job search agencies, including Shoreline’s own CEP program.

Do not hesitate to contact Student Accessibility Services’ Program Specialist, Miranda Levy, with questions or for more information about this important awareness month. Miranda is happy to provide disability-related trainings to your department or division.
