As I stated, I hope I was able to present the external and internal challenges in a transparent and understandable way, as well as share my excitement about what is already in progress. If I didn’t share your example of “leading with yes,” please let me know and I’ll post it here next week!
Our culture shift is a continual move toward proactive engagement, data collection to assess impact (particularly around equity), and leading with the mantra of “making the institution ready for our students.”

Accreditation
- The Policies, Regulations, and Financial Review (PRFR) accreditation report was submitted to the NWCCU before the September 1st deadline. The report is publicly available on the Accreditation page.
- Many thanks to the 40+ employees who contributed to the report and/or supported the work that was documented in the report. It took a village!
- The College will hear back from the NWCCU in January/February 2027.

Action Required: Email MFA Option Being Retired October 26, 2026
To align our authentication methods with current security best practices and strengthen the overall security of the ctcLink environment, the SBCTC will be making a change to the way Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) is used with ctcLink.
Beginning Monday, October 26, 2026, the Email option will no longer be available as a Multi-Factor Authentication (MFA) method within ctcLink.
Why is this changing?
As part of a systemwide security initiative across Washington’s community and technical colleges, Email is being removed as an MFA option because email accounts can be vulnerable to phishing, password reuse, and other forms of compromise. Removing Email as an authentication factor helps reduce security risks and encourages the use of stronger, more secure methods.
Recommended MFA options include:
- Authenticator Apps (Google, Okta Verify, Microsoft)
- Security keys (such as YubiKeys)
What do I need to do?
Prior to October 26, 2026, please verify your selected MFA options in ctcLink. If you are already using an MFA method other than Email, no additional action is required at this time.
If Email is currently your only MFA method, you will be prompted to choose and enroll in another MFA option the next time you log in after October 26, 2026. We encourage you to update your MFA settings before that date to avoid any login interruptions when accessing ctcLink services.

Volunteers Needed
The Foundation’s Donors and Scholars Celebration Dinner is next week. Thursday, September 24 at 5:00 PM, and we’d love some help with tasks like day-of setup, handing out name badges, and ushering guests to tables. We’re looking for about 3-5 people to help out. (Stay for the event and you will be fed!)
Employees interested in helping can do so with supervisor approval as long as there is no impact to the completion of regular duties.

The Shoreline Chamber of Commerce will be hosting their Good Morning Chamber events on campus this Fall.
Feel free to join us at 7:30 AM on Tuesday, September 22 to hear a presentation from Levi O’Tool and Hopelink. General tickets are available for $5 at Chamber Event Calendar (Chamber members: free).
Additional Good Morning Chamber events on campus will be October 27 (Kevin Barrett – True North Professional Development) and November 17 (Dr. Jack Kahn – Shoreline College!).
Guided Pathways
The Guided Pathways team is happy to share that our Navigate 360 implementation project is continuing on schedule.
- The initial data integration is complete.
- The functional team is now learning the Enrollment Success CRM in preparation for implementation.
- Our colleagues at South Puget Sound College are working on integrating Navigate 360’s academic planner function with CTCLink. EAB, the parent company of Starfish and Navigate 360, has confirmed that the Degree Planner functionality of Starfish will remain available to Shoreline until SPSCC has determined that the academic planner integration is successful.
