Need a Quiet Space? Check Out Shoreline’s Serenity Room

relax
Do you know Shoreline has a dedicated space for relaxation, meditation, and reflection? Yes. We. Do!

The Shoreline Community College Serenity Room provides a quiet environment where students can relax, meditate, and reflect. Located within Advising and Counseling Center (FOSS 5229), the Serenity Room is a quiet space for students to escape from the fast and sometimes overwhelming pace of college life.

The Serenity Room, with comfortable lighting and seating for several people, is also a technology and study-free space. We also provide materials focusing on stress reduction.

The Serenity Room is also available for staff and faculty as we know our days are also often fast-paced and we are balancing multiple priorities.

Please promote this opportunity to your students and don’t hesitate to stop by yourself.

Be well.

Let’s Talk About It!: Understanding Suicide Workshop Tues., Nov. 3

Understanding Suicide
Tuesday, November 3, 2015
12:30pm in the PUB, room 9208 (Quiet Dining Room)

We have invited a panel to campus to talk about one of the most difficult subjects in our culture: suicide. Join us to learn more about the signs and symptoms of suicidality from a personal perspective. Counselors from SCC Counseling Services will be available during and after the panel. All are welcome.

Join Counseling Services and Brooke Zimmers from Communication Studies to welcome guest speakers Laura Nelson and Laura Philip to our campus. Laura and Laura will increase understanding of suicide by presenting their personal stories and experiences, and sharing what recovery has looked like for them. They will discuss warning signs, ways to get someone help, and what has been helpful for them. We are pleased to welcome these speakers, who have both volunteered with the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention and Forefront: Innovations in Suicide Prevention.

SCC Counselors Gwyn Hoffman-Robinson and Sheryl Copeland will be available to provide information and resources after the presentation.

Questions about the workshop? Contact Sheryl Copeland at scopeland@shoreline.edu or 206.533.6712.
