Three faculty members receive tenure, 17 move forward

Tenure was approved for three Shoreline Community College faculty members on Wednesday, March 18, 2015 and the tenure process renewed for another 17 individuals.

In a unanimous vote by the Board of Trustees, tenure was approved for:

  • Corinne (Corki) Budnick, Nursing
  • Caroline Conley, Librarian – Information Literacy
  • James Elenteny, Music Technology

All three were third-year faculty candidates.

The trustees also voted unanimously to renew tenure-track contracts for 11 first-year and six second-year tenure-track faculty candidates.

The first-year candidates are:

  • Mary Burroughs, Nursing
  • Gail Dalton, Business technology
  • Jessica Gibson, ESL
  • Eric Hamako, Multicultural studies
  • Gwynith Hoffmann-Robinson, Counseling
  • Sasha Malinsky, Mathematics
  • Tiffany Meier, Academic Advising-International Education
  • Trena Redman, Nursing
  • Maya Smorodinsky, English
  • Ailsa Yamamoto, Business Administration

The second-year candidates are:

  • Matthew Allison, Studio Arts
  • Katie Fleming, Dental Hygiene
  • Brad Fader, Accounting
  • Michelle Kleisath, Multicultural Studies
  • Marjorie (Betty) Kost, Nursing
  • Rosalie Tepper, Mathematics

Mark Your Calendars For the Athletic Banquet, May 29!

Join the Athletic Department on May 29 at 7:30 p.m. in the PUB for our annual celebration recognizing our student-athletes with athletic and academic awards from the Northwest Athletic Conference and other special team awards.

Entertainment at the dress-up affair will include live music, motivational speaker Mark Matteson, a silent auction, a southern-style dinner and dancing.

Tickets are:
$12 for seniors, students and children
$15 for general-public adults

Tickets may be purchased by check or credit card in the Athletic Office of Shoreline Community College. For more information on purchasing tickets, please contact Program Coordinator Kathy Langer at 206-546-4746 or Athletic Director Steve Eskridge at 206-546-4553.

The banquet was started in 1998 and ran consecutively through 2006 before going on hiatus. Last year, we were glad to bring it back to celebrate our Shoreline student-athletes!

In addition to the banquet, which starts at 7:30 p.m., there will be a silent auction to raise funds for our Athletic Department starting at 6:30 p.m. A dance will immediately follow the dinner and award ceremony.

Seating is limited, so please get your tickets right away. We hope to see you there!

Shoreline Nursing Program Graduation Ceremony, Thurs., March 19

Congrats to the Winter 2015 graduating class of the Shoreline Community College 6- and 10-Quarter Nursing Program!

A graduation ceremony will be held for the Nursing Program graduates, their families and friends and the Nursing Program Faculty and Staff on Thurs., March 19 at 4 p.m. in the PUB Main Dining Room. Please join us in celebrating the success and achievement of these fine students!

A cake and coffee reception will follow the ceremony.

Department of Retirement Systems Information Sessions, May 21

The Department of Retirement Systems is coming to SCC on May 21st !

A drop by session is offered in the morning and again in the afternoon for PERS plan members. Also, there’s a 4 pm presentation for non-PERS members interested in the Deferred Compensation Plan. See the attached flyer for details.
