All-Hazards Training is here for all employees

Note: Since first publication of this article, training times have been extended by 30 minutes. This change has been reflected in the table below. Also, more dates will be available in the Fall.

The next big step in the college emergency management plan is happening.

The All-Hazards Training is an excellent overview of what faculty and staff should be prepared for in various emergency situations.  The training is an hour long and will be presented on numerous dates and times.

This important training is mandatory for all faculty and staff.

For those unable to attend the scheduled trainings offered before the end of this academic year, additional opportunities will be offered in fall, 2014.

Faculty members are not expected to attend trainings that occur outside of the contractual academic calendar. Associate faculty members who attend mandatory training and submit a completed time-sheet to the VPASA’s office will be paid for that time at the contractual rate for non-instructional work, $39 per hour.

There is nothing more important to this effort than a well-trained staff.  Preparation, training and readiness can make all the difference should the college ever be faced with a critical emergency.

Please review the training schedule below and mark your calendar(s) for the session that best fits your schedule.

Got paper?

The testing center and the Math Learning Center are looking for scratch paper for students to use. Please make sure there is no private or personal information.

There are collection boxes in 2800 and the FOSS workroom, or feel free to bring/mail some to the MLC. The MLC especially needs full size (8.5 by 11) sheets that can be used in the printer.

Quality Matters Retreat Dates – July 17 & 18, 2014

Thanks to everyone who responded to the Doodle Poll regarding dates for this retreat!

The majority can attend on Thursday, July 17- Friday, July 18, so I have reserved our meeting space and rooms at the Dumas Bay Center in Federal Way for these dates.  We will begin on Thursday at 2 p.m. and end on Friday at 3 p.m.  All meals and rooms are included and mileage will be reimbursed (no cost to you).

Livia and I will be reviewing the Quality Matters process, helping you align your course objectives with your assessments and getting your class prepared for QM Review.

It will be a great learning experience as well as quality time with your peers in a beautiful setting.  This is a link to the Dumas Bay Center’s website.

Please confirm your attendance ASAP as it will affect how many rooms we need, food, etc.  We have plenty of space so please come even if you didn’t reply to the Doodle poll.  More details to come.

Thank you,

Amy & Livia
