Here come the candidates!

The in-person portion of selecting a new president for Shoreline Community College is about to get underway.

On Monday, April 7, Paula T. Langteau , Campus Dean and CEO at the University of Wisconsin-Marinette, is scheduled to be at Shoreline for a series of interviews with campus constituencies. A public forum is scheduled for 2:45-3:45 p.m., in the PUB Main Dining Room.

On Friday, April 11, Cheryl Roberts, President of Chemeketa Community College, in Salem, Ore., is scheduled to be on campus for her series of interviews. The public forum for Roberts is also scheduled 2:45-3:45 p.m., but will be in Room 2308.

Each candidate will go through a full day of meetings and events. The days start with a reception, then an interview with members of the college Executive Leadership, a break for lunch followed by a campus tour, the open public forum, a similar forum with students and then an interview and dinner with the Board of Trustees.

Feedback forms will be available at the public forum sessions. Feedback from those sessions will be collected and forwarded to the board for use in making a final decision. The trustees are also accepting feedback via e-mail at: sccpressearch2014@shoreline.edu

The Attestation Period Begins April 1

The time to attest to the tobacco use and spouse/domestic partner surcharges is here. The surcharge attestation period begins April 1 and runs through May 15.

This is also the time to attest to the SmartHealth wellness incentive. The wellness incentive attestation period begins April 1 and runs through June 30.

You may attest by going to “My Account” on the PEBB website (www.hca.wa.gov/pebb). If you have not already registered, you will need to create a user name and password.

If you don’t have internet access, you may call 1-855-635-8380 to request paper attestation forms.

Service for Karen Toreson scheduled

A memorial service for Karen Toreson is scheduled for 1 p.m., Saturday, April 5, at North Seattle Church of the Nazarene, 13130 Fifth Ave NE, Seattle. The family suggests donations to the American Cancer Society.

Toreson, a Professor of Business Technology, passed away early Sunday morning, March 30. More details are available at news.shoreline.edu

Writing and Learning Studio hours

The Writing & Learning Studio, Room 1501, opens for the quarter on Wednesday, April 2.  Here are the new spring quarter hours:

  • Monday & Tuesday:  8:30 AM – 3:30 PM
  • Wednesday & Thursday: 8:30 AM – 4:30 PM
  • Friday:  8:30 AM – 2:30 PM
  • Sunday (beginning April 13): 1:30-4:30 PM
