U.S.-Russia Relations: A New Cold War?: PUB 9208
Thurs., Nov. 16: 7-8:30pm
U.S.-Russian relations seem to have reached a low point since the end of the Cold War in 1990. Confrontations in Europe and the Middle East and accusations of Russian meddling in U.S. elections have produced a “tenuous” bilateral relationship. Is it the new/old normal?
Speaker: Dr. Bradley J. Murg, Assistant Professor of Political Science and Director of Global Development Studies, Seattle Pacific University; and faculty member at The Ellison Center for Russian, East European and Central Asian Studies.
If you are interested in attending this year’s Students of Color Conference (SOCC), the Multicultural Center is hosting a Q+A info session on Thurs., Nov. 16 from 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the PUB, Room 9102.
This year’s SOCC is April 12-14, 2018. This conference draws over 800 students from community colleges statewide to Yakima every spring. The conference is planned to be a space where students learn, engage, and build community. The hope is not only to inspire, but also to prepare students with the tools to articulate their own stories in order to cultivate personal truths and help create social change. Applications to attend are due by December 8, 2017.
The theme for this year is – RADICAL LOVE: ACTIVISM IGNITED
Workshop topics are guided by the five main conference themes: Identity Development, Awareness of Others, Skills Development, Social Justice and Social Activism, and Personal Development.
The Students of Color Conference is a transformative educational experience!
If you are interested in attending, please attend the info session on Nov. 16 or apply by going to the SOCC course in CANVAS.
