New Student Orientation Employee Sign-Up Survey

Volunteer for New Student Orientation Fall events and help welcome new students to campus! Events are September 14 and September 18.

This fall we are rolling out a new version of New Student Orientation. The new version has students rotating around campus in different groups to experience the Library, FOSS building resources/departments, and Advising and to hear from a student panel. Students will also attend a computer lab session where they will learn to log on to Canvas, look up their textbooks, and use their Shoreline email. Students will then choose between two other sessions (conference-style!): Financial Aid/Funding and College/Classroom Expectations.

In order to make this a wonderful experience for students, we would love your help! If you are interested, fill out the New Student Orientation Employee Survey: Fall 2017. Anyone who takes the survey can indicate which dates/times they will be available. This will help us communicate logistics in a transparent and efficient way to those who want to participate. Even if you only want to be involved for a small portion of one of the events, anything helps!

For planning purposes, please complete the survey by Fri., August 25. Thank you for considering helping out at this event aimed at getting our students off on the right foot.

Passing of Retired Faculty Member William Hugh Thomas

William Hugh Thomas established the Law Enforcement (Criminal Justice) Program at Shoreline Community College and retired in 1981 after teaching at the College for 16 years.

William’s grandson Seth informed Professor of Criminal Justice Linda Forst of his grandfather’s August 6th passing—three months short of his 99th birthday.  In turn, Professor Forst communicated to Seth, the legacy that his grandfather left at Shoreline Community College and the wonderful stories of “what a great person and visionary” his grandfather was.
