Course reserves in the Library

Summer is right around the corner, and it’s time for instructors to think about materials they would like to place on reserve for Summer quarter. In order to place an item on reserve, you will need to bring your reserve item to the Library and fill out a form indicating your contact information, the course number, and the desired length of time for check-out. It generally takes 24 to 48 hours for reserve materials to be processed, so please get them to us as early as possible, ideally, before the quarter begins.

Also, please remember to pick up the items you want taken off reserve at the Ask Desk.

Mandatory migration to Windows 10

Over the past year, Technology Support Services has afforded the opportunity for faculty and staff to upgrade their systems to Windows 10. Now, during the summer quarter and through summer break, Technology Support Services will be requiring all Windows 7 and 8 systems to be upgraded to Windows 10. The majority of this will be completed during the evening and weekend time periods during summer quarter to minimize any disruption to normal operations. By start of fall quarter, all systems on campus will be Windows 10.

TSS strongly encourages everyone to upgrade their office computers at their earliest possible convenience. There is still time to complete this process on your own schedule. Before you depart for the day, open Software Center and choose the option “Windows 10 1703 upgrade” and complete the few clicks to start the process. The next morning your system will be running Windows 10 and you will no longer have to worry about the required installation during the summer periods. While you are at it, go ahead and upgrade to Office 2016 afterward.

Should you have any questions, comments, or concerns, or simply wish a little assistance getting started, please let TSS know and we will be more than happy to assist.

Take the Shoreline “values” survey by June 15

Survey: How does our behavior match Shoreline’s values?

Over the course of the 2016-17 academic year, Shoreline has engaged in ongoing conversations about our shared values and the behaviors that demonstrate those values.  The results of these rich conversations were analyzed in several ways, and what emerged was not a certain set of behaviors, but some key guiding questions to help keep our values at the forefront in all aspects of our work.

You are invited to comment on a possible framework for Shoreline to engage in continual self-assessment about whether our behaviors align with our values. In addition, as the College has progressed in clarifying its values, you are invited to provide your thoughts about a related potential change in our “core themes.”

Learn more and provide feedback here. The deadline for participating is June 15, 2017.
