A Thanksgiving message from President Roberts

Dear Colleague,

In the spirit of gratitude, I want to wish each of you a happy Thanksgiving. In the midst of a tense political climate, final exams, and holiday plans, the upcoming holiday provides us with an opportunity to pause and reflect.

As I gather with my family and friends this Thanksgiving holiday, I’m thankful for each and every Shoreline student. You show up each day, ready to work hard and pursue your dreams. I am thankful for each and every faculty and staff member. Your dedication to supporting our students is unmatched.

Each one of us plays an important role in building the sense of community here at Shoreline. And as a community, we depend on each other to both fulfill our individual goals and to build a common future. Let’s continue to provide support and encouragement to one another as we finish this quarter and begin to prepare for a new year ahead.

The Game’s Afoot opens Dec. 2 – Get your tickets today!

Shoreline Community College Theater presents “The Game’s Afoot” by Ken Ludwig. Directed by Bryar Golden, the show runs Dec. 2-11. Get your tickets today!

It is December 1936 and Broadway star William Gillette, admired the world over for his leading role in the play Sherlock Holmes, has invited his fellow cast-members to his Connecticut castle for a weekend of revelry. But when one of the guests is stabbed to death, the festivities in this isolated house of tricks and mirrors quickly turn dangerous. Then it’s up to Gillette himself, as he assumes the persona of his beloved Holmes, to track down the killer before the next victim appears. The danger and hilarity are non-stop in this glittering whodunit set during the Christmas holidays.

Lancer offers a Thanksgiving food special, Tues. & Wed., Nov. 22-23

Lancer food services will be cooking up a Thanksgiving “feast” in the cafeteria this Tues. & Wed., Nov. 22-23.

For $9.95 you’ll get turkey, stuffing, potatoes with gravy, steamed veggies, cranberry sauce, and a piece of pie. Nom!

Winter Closure – Comp Time Accrual Opportunities

As agreed upon in the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) recently signed with the WFSE-HE related to the planned closure of our campus during the week following this year’s Christmas holiday (December 27th – 30th, 2016) classified staff are being provided with opportunities to earn compensatory (comp) time through professional development activities scheduled to occur between now through November 30, 2016 as listed below:

Upon completion of each online training activity listed above, please be sure to:For the items listed above, classified staff are authorized to complete these specific training activities outside of their regular work schedules (including at home) as part of the opportunities being provided for the accrual of comp time for the campus closure.

  1. Print and submit the certificate of completion to HR
  2. List the additional hours worked in TLR, selecting comp time earned and including a comment as follows: “mm/dd: comp time earned for winter closure” www.lynda.com

Campus closed for Thanksgiving holiday, Thurs. & Fri., Nov., 24-25

Reminder that the college and all campus services will be closed for the Thanksgiving holiday Thurs. & Fri., Nov. 24-25. Please make sure to take care of any campus business you may have prior to the closure.

Note: The library will be closed Thurs., Fri., and Sat. Nov. 24-26 but will re-open on Sun., Nov. 27 from 12-6 p.m.
