Nicholas Sironka, a former Fulbright scholar, was born in Narok, in the Rift Valley province of Kenya.
Sironka teaches the techniques and history of Batik art, along with an understanding of traditional Maasai culture.
Through his artwork, Sironka is preserving the wisdom and the knowledge of Maasai traditions.
Although Batik is not of African origin, its roots as an indigenous fabric art are closely aligned with the spirit of simplicity and unity that Sironka is sharing with the world.
As a Maasai, Sironka is determined to portray his people’s culture truthfully, with dignity and beauty.

It has been great to see so many familiar and new faces on campus this week and we can feel the energy buzz settling in as the start to the quarter is right around the corner!
We’d like to remind you that Success Coaching is available for all students, that includes Fall Quarter! This 2016-2017 year we look forward to continuing to meet with students and support them towards their goals, identify and address barriers, and connect them to resources. Below is a brief description of what we do and more information can be found our webpage. Coaching is an ongoing professional relationship that works with you on study strategies, goal planning, time management, balancing life’s priorities, focus, motivation, and organization. Coaches also help you identify and connect to other resources. Coaching is not counseling, advising, or tutoring.

Faculty and staff invited to “Open Hours” with Dr. Alison Stevens, EVP for Academic & Student Affairs

Dr. Alison Stevens, Executive Vice President for Academic & Student Affairs, invites Shoreline Community College faculty and staff members to “Open Hours”. These will be held at a variety of locations across campus and are scheduled throughout the year, typically on Mondays and Thursdays every first or second week of the month. The schedule with Dr. Stevens’ open hours can be found here. Hours are drop-in, and no appointment is needed.
*Please note, a DAAG announcement regarding open hours published over the summer listed the meeting venue for Oct. 3 as the PUB. The Oct. 3 open hours will instead be held in room 1208.
