Waves of Gratitude for Zoe Swanson. Zoe is incredible. She is always very responsive and so knowledgeable about financial aid. She just stepped into her new role liaising with Financial Aid and Workforce. Every time I have a question about a students’ Financial Aid status, she kindly looks into the situation and effectively tells me what this student needs to do with financial aid. Conversations between Career Education Options (CEO), Learning Center North (LCN), and Transitional Studies have opened up a new opportunity for collaborating and supporting students so, starting December 1st, the CEO and LCN programs will be moving to be part of Transitional Studies.

Transitional Studies already houses Shoreline’s HS+, GED, ABE, I-BEST, and ESL programs, so the move is an effort to better align relevant departments and services as well as create a more cohesive support network for students as they navigate their educational pathways. In conjunction with this expansion, the Transitional Studies’ administrative position will be converted to an Associate Dean to reflected the added responsibilities.

Dear Colleague, 

As we usher in the winter holiday season, these are the times when we want to gather in person with friends and family. However, I want to reiterate the importance in following the Governor’s directive to refrain from gathering in groups outside of those who are members of your household while COVID-19 rates continue to rise.  

To keep our campus community as safe as possible, please note that any Shoreline employees or students who travel out-of-state December 1 – January 31 will be subject to a 14-day quarantine from campus.  

This means if you are an employee who is pre-authorized to come to campus for work and you travel outside-of-Washington in December through the end of January, please plan to work from home for 14 calendar days upon your return. You will also need to complete the Campus Access Form to acknowledge that you’ve travelled out of state. (Students who live in the residence hall and travel out of state will be asked to quarantine within their apartment.) 

Unfortunately, COVID-19 transmission rates continue to increase in our community, and we must take these additional steps to ensure the safety of those who come to our physical campus. Thank you for doing your part to limit the spread of this virus.

Dear Colleague,

As we progress through the remainder of fall quarter, I know many people may be feeling the ongoing stressors of the COVID-19 pandemic, racial injustice, economic uncertainty, national political shifts, and, the strains of the proposed budget reductions on campus. This has been a challenging season in many ways and yet, there is still much to be thankful for. For me, I know I’m grateful for your resilience, strength, flexibility, and continued dedication to serving our students each day.

My hope is that you are able to find some rest and relief over the long weekend. While friends and families will not be physically gathering together in the same way this year due to the pandemic, I hope we can all find some new ways to celebrate, connect, reflect, and express our thanks for all that we do have.
