UPDATED: Full Campus Power Shutdown Notice – Saturday, August 21

Please be advised, the College’s original power shutdown date of August 14 was rescheduled to August 21 due to scheduling changes with Seattle City Light (SCL).

Here is the most updated information, including the impact on our computer networks:

Full Power Shutdown of the Entire Campus

Date & Duration:

Saturday 8-21-21, 7 AM to 3 PM, 8 hours

Areas Affected:
All building across the entire Shoreline Community College Campus will experience loss of power. SCL will be performing electrical work in building 9000. SCL will also be accessing the electrical vault in the East access road.

Impact on Campus Technology Access:
Technology Support Services (TSS) server and networking equipment operation will be maintained by backup generators. All web-based services are expected to remain online and available.

Services that will be unavailable:

  • Employee Remote Desktop Services will not be available to connect to employee desktops
  • Campus Wireless Networks will not be available
  • Student Remote Desktop Services (Splashtop) will not be able to connect to shared instructional computers

Purpose/Scope:

To perform required maintenance work on the electrical switch gear in building #9000. This will allow electricians to safely perform smaller localized shutdowns for the HSAMCC project and other future projects on campus. It will also help mitigate campus electrical outages or electrical gear failures in future. Eaton will be cleaning and testing the switch gear in building #9000.

Thank you for your flexibility and understanding.

Student COVID Check-In Station Moves to Bldg 2900 as of June 28

Good afternoon everyone,

The COVID Check-In Station has been moved from the Automotive Showroom to the lower level of Building 2900 in Room 2909. This move was necessitated by the 2500 building (Manufacturing program) needing space for classes.

The new location for the Check-In Station is next to the Curbside pick-up/drop-off area. There is signage directing students from the main gate to the 2900 building.

This location will be staffed starting Monday June 28, the first day of Summer Quarter. It will be open Monday-Thursday 6:45 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Thank you,

Ric (James Doike-Foreman)
