Message from Facilities Director J. Francois: Right of Way (ROW) Improvement to begin Tuesday, April 9

Dear Colleague,

Phase 1 of the Right of Way (ROW) improvements along NW Innis Arden Way will begin the morning of Tuesday, April 9, 2019. Please review this phasing diagram containing the eventual sequence of this improvement project. Much of this work is weather dependent, so exact dates are not available for future phases.

• Laydown and prep work was completed this past weekend.
• Phase 1 work involves the installation of a storm drain line and is expected to take approximately twenty (20) days to complete.

During this phase, the north side of NW Innis Arden Way will not be accessible to foot traffic. Pedestrians will be routed along the south side and flagged across at the main entrance. The work hours for the construction crews are expected to be 9:30 am to 3:00 pm, with possible exceptions to work around delays and weather conditions.

My thanks to all for your continued support and cooperation. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Jason Francois

Help recruit students for Resident Advisor positions

Student Life is currently recruiting for Resident Advisors (RAs) for the 2019-2020 academic year. RAs will serve an integral role in the development of community within Shoreline’s first residence hall, which will open in September 2019. These student leaders will facilitate the social, academic, and personal development of students living within the community by planning activities, responding to after-hours emergencies, and connecting students to campus resources.

Faculty/staff that know of a student(s) who may be a good fit for this position are encouraged to either have the student apply online or nominate the student so that we can reach out to them regarding this exciting opportunity.

If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact smusnicki@shoreline.edu.

Message from Facilities Director Jason Francois: Parking Impacts on Campus (April 8-11, 2019)

Dear Colleague,

In preparation for site work related to the new Allied Health, Science & Advanced Manufacturing building, the construction team will need to take four (4) soil borings and conduct a water infiltration test.

On Monday, April 8 through Wednesday, April 10, the north (back) third of the Greenwood Parking Lot will be closed for test pit excavation and infiltration testing.  The area will be barricaded from the rest of the lot. There should not be any disruption through noise or traffic to the rest of campus during this testing.

At this time, the expectation is to have the Greenwood lot fully open for parking on Thursday, April 11.

Throughout the day on Thursday, April 11, there will be four (4) borings at the locations in the photos below. Unfortunately, this will impact several parking spots. Work at each location is anticipated to take a few hours. The work will be done in sequence, not at the same time, and the exact sequence will be determined by the geo-tech company on site.

All work related to the borings and infiltration test will be completed by close of business on Thursday, April 11.

I appreciate your patience while commence with work on this exciting new project!  Please contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Jason Francois

Message from Facilities Director J. Francois: Traffic Impacts on Campus (April 4-5, 2019)

Dear Colleague,

As our work bringing the student residence hall online continues, we’ve reached a new milestone! The construction team is applying gypcrete, one of the top layers of the flooring. As a result of this work, we will need to utilize the portion of the east road between the entrance and exit lanes of the East gate. Traffic will be directed around the Y in order to keep the road open, however, there will be no straight path through. This will take all day on Friday, 4/5/19. We expect no fumes and minimal noise. The disruption will be to traffic only.

Additionally, as part of the housing project, we are making some improvements to the campus frontage. On Thursday (4/4/19) and Friday (4/5/19), the south side of NW Innis Arden Way will have a pedestrian path leading away from the work to the north side of the road. Work will also occur on the north side over the weekend. The intent is to complete the work along NW Innis Arden Way by next Monday (4/8/19). However, if there are additional delays, we will provide as much information as soon as we can to minimize disruption.

I appreciate the community’s patience while we transition into the last phases of construction on the student residence hall. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,
Jason Francois

Reduction to one lane (east entrance) Wed, Mar 20: 7-10am

Dear Colleague,

Due to the residence hall construction, the road from the East Entrance heading north will be reduced to one lane from 7:00 to 10:00 A.M. on Wednesday, March 20, 2019.  (Flaggers will be directing traffic.)  Once past the 9000 building (the “PUB”), approaching the 5000 building (“FOSS”), the road will be open as normal.

We appreciate your continued patience with the construction and road closures. Please contact me if you have any questions.

Sincerely,

Jason Francois
