Campus Updates 07/14/22

EVENTS AND NEWS

Message from President Kahn:

This past week I was at the Washington Association of Community and Technical Colleges (WACTC) annual conference.  It was a great conference focusing on national enrollment trends, EDI, budget, and systemic improvements.  It was great making some new colleagues and being inspired by the commitment to our students and communities.

I will be setting up some ongoing virtual office hours and face-to-face opportunities for us to meet and get to know one another.  It will also give me some time to learn about your passions and visions for the future as we continue great work and reimagine new and innovative ways of bringing back and serving diverse students in the future.  I’m very excited about this and looking forward to meeting you all!

Enrollment Services Drop for Non-Payment Update

Hello from Enrollment Services! The College has started the Drop for Non-Payment (DNP) process for Summer Quarter 2022, and we are writing to share updates related to this process with you.

What’s Happening:

On July 6, we dropped students from Summer Quarter classes who are not part of a special population, and had the following indicated on their accounts:

  • no payment activity,
  • no pending funding (financial aid, emergency aid, etc.),
  • a balance over $100,
  • and no Canvas activity.

On July 18, we will initiate another Drop for Non-Payment (DNP) of students who are not part of a special population with the following indicated on their accounts:

  • no payment activity,
  • no pending funding (financial aid, emergency aid, etc.),
  • a balance over $100.

Messaging to students:

Prior to the first Drop for Non-Payment on July 6, we sent a targeted message to students at risk of being dropped with information on how to pay their tuition and available funding options.

On July 8, the College mistakenly sent a message to some students indicating that they had been dropped for non-payment. However, most of these students had not in fact been dropped from their classes, and we sent an email clarifying this later in the day.

If you receive questions from students about whether they were dropped, please advise them to log on to their ctcLink account to confirm their enrollment.

We will send students at risk of being dropped for non-payment on July 18 targeted emails reminding them of outstanding balances and instructions on how to pay.

Our ask of you:

Please help spread the word about Summer Quarter tuition deadlines and remind students that there are funding opportunities available such as federal COVID-19 funds to assist them with tuition, fees, and other educational costs.

Thank you for supporting this work and our students!

Important Dates Calendar: July 14 Update

Hello from Enrollment Services! We are writing to let you know there’s a new version of the Important Dates Calendar – a one-pager that lists important dates related to student enrollment – now live on our college’s website which you can view by clicking this link. If you see the previous version dated June 9 instead, you may need to clear your browser’s cache. Alternatively, you can find physical copies of the calendar at the Admin, PUB, and FOSS Welcomes Desks.

Below, you’ll find a brief list of changes made:

  • Information for Spring 2022 was removed and information for Summer 2023 was added
  • Several rows of the table were rearranged to be in sequential order by date
  • The subheader previously titled “Paying Tuition: Policy & Procedure” was changed to “Paying Tuition: Here’s What You Need to Know”
  • The word “may” previously capitalized in the sentence “Students with outstanding tuition balances after a payment deadline has passed may be dropped for non-payment” was uncapitalized

Thank you!

Sincerely,

Enrollment Services
