Winter Institute Online/Hybrid Course Development 1/27/22 1-3pm

Hello Faculty

Are you developing or revisiting an online or hybrid course? Would you like to update content that you created quickly to prepare for remote instruction? Do you have a class that you would like to teach using a different modality? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, the Institute might be right for you!

The Hybrid and Online Quality Course Development Institute is back with a revised learning experience designed for Shoreline faculty who teach hybrid and/or online courses. This series of workshops is designed to help you build on your existing Canvas courses and find ways to enhance the teaching and learning within your classes. There are four individual workshops available in the Institute that align with the new Washington Course Design Checklist.

Stipends
With the redesign of the Institute, we have updated the amounts of the stipends as follows:

Weekly Workshop Stipends – $106/workshop
First-time participants will earn a $106 stipend for participating in and completing the assignments for each of the four, weekly Institute workshops. Stipends will be distributed shortly after the final week of workshops.

Course Certification Stipend – $795
Must complete all four weeks of the Institute and

Develop & submit your first hybrid or online course for a full review
Stipend payable once course has met or exceeded standards and is formally certified
Stipend only available for your first certified course

Schedule
January 27 and 28: OPTIONAL Orientation to Canvas (not stipend eligible)
February 3 and 4: Course Design & Student Engagement
February 10 and 11:  Outcomes & Objectives
February 17 and 18:  Assessment & Feedback
February 24 and 25:  Materials & Tools

Zoom workshops will be held Thursday 1:00-3:00 and will repeat  Fridays 10:00-noon. You only need to attend one workshop per week.

This is a Zoom event.  Once you self-enroll into the course, you will find the Zoom links and can add them to your calendar.

We’ve shifted to a “mix and match” approach and you can choose to attend any or all of the weekly workshops. Each workshop includes assignments for you to complete and course content to develop.

If you are interested in joining us for any or all of the Institute workshops, you can self-enroll! It’s a great opportunity to engage with your colleagues, too. You can collaborate and work through ideas together as you enhance your online and hybrid courses.
