You’re Invited to Opening Week & Fall Convocation!

There is much anticipation for Opening Week and the start of a new quarter and academic year. This is a time for our College community to reconnect and prepare to enthusiastically welcome students back to campus. We have had great success helping our students achieve when we’ve started off the year engaged and learning together. When we focus on our common future, we make great strides in purposefully creating a powerful student learning experience!

This year’s Opening Week (September 19–26, 2019) is another meaningful time to learn together in a conference-style format. The events are influenced by your evaluation of last year’s Opening Week and Day of Learning, along with input from the faculty and classified unions, Faculty Senate, and Opening Week committee.

Please see further detailed information from President Roberts in the email sent on September 5th.

Lastly, please go to the Opening Week page to see the latest information about Opening Week and Fall Convocation.

Annual Fire Alarm Testing

Dear Colleague,

Safety & Security and Johnson Controls will be conducting a mandated annual fire alarm testing on Thursday, September 19th, 2019.

On Thursday, September 19th starting at 8 a.m., the fire alarm inspection team will be going building to building (Building 700, 1600, and 9000) to activate each individual fire alarm to inspect the horn signals and strobes. The alarm sound activation will only last a short few seconds and, once the technician is able to inspect the entire building, they will then shut off the alarm and return the system back to normal mode.

If you have any questions about the fire alarm testing, please contact Safety & Security at X4633. Thank you!

Sincerely,
Edwin Lucero
Director, Safety & Security & Emergency Management

Message from President Roberts: Anniversary of September 11

Dear Colleague,

Each year on this day, we pay our respects to those lost in the tragedy of the September 11 attacks. The impact of this day continues to be felt around the world and many lives were forever altered.

I encourage each of us to take a moment today to remember and reflect on the lives lost on that day, those who faced grave dangers to save them, and how we can dedicate ourselves in big and small ways to peaceable actions to honor their lives and their bravery.

Respectfully,

Cheryl Roberts, Ed.D.

President
