Dear Colleague,

It’s time for our periodic commute trip reduction (CTR) survey! In order to comply with Washington law, Shoreline Community College is required to conduct this survey and to request that each CTR-covered employee complete it.

You are a CTR-covered employee if all of these apply to you:

• You work more than 35 hours per week
• You are scheduled to report to a single worksite between 6:00 and 9:00 a.m.
• You work on two or more weekdays
• Your position is intended to last at least a year

If all of these apply to you, please take the CTR survey by following the instructions at the bottom of this e-mail. Otherwise, please disregard the remainder of this e-mail and do not take the survey.

Please complete the CTR survey online, following the instructions below. If you haven’t already done so, please submit the survey by Friday, May 3rd, at 5:00 p.m. The survey will be closed after Friday, May 3rd, by the end of the day (5:00 p.m.).

All CTR-covered survey participants will be entered in a prize drawing to receive one of two preloaded $30 Orca cards, a $25 Amazon gift card, or a $15 Starbucks gift card. (These prizes are provided by King County, not the College.)

Completing the survey should take less than five minutes of your time. The questions focus on how you commute to and from work. Data collected through the survey will be used by the state to plan for transportation improvements. College staff will also review response rates, summary data, and comments.

If you have any questions, please contact Mary Lou Ames in Safety and Security at (206) 546-4633, or at: mames@shoreline.edu. Thank you for your participation!

Sincerely,

Message from President Roberts: Sri Lanka Tragedy

Dear Colleague,

On Sunday, April 21, multiple churches and hotels were bombed in Sri Lanka, claiming the lives of hundreds of innocent people and wounding many more. I want to acknowledge that members of our Shoreline community have been touched by this senseless act of violence. As a College, we send our deepest condolences to the victims and their families, and stand in solidarity with all those affected.

This terrible tragedy may affect each of us differently so it’s important to know there are support services available to assist you:

  • Counseling services are available for all students in the Counseling Center, located in Building 5000 (FOSS). During regular hours, contact 206-546-4594. After hours, a 24-hour Crisis Line is available to students at 866-427-4747.
  • Counseling services are also available to Shoreline employees via the Employee Assistance Program at 877-313-4455.

In addition, the situation in Sri Lanka continues to be very unstable. Reports of more explosive devices being discovered continue to come in and people are living in a state of constant fear. Although the pain of this senseless act will linger, there are steps we can take to let those affected by this tragedy know there is more goodness and love out there than hate.

A member of our campus community has invited all who are interested to attend a vigil and blessings ceremony in Tukwila to honor those who have died and to impart blessings for the injured who are in recovery. Here are the details:
