Notice: NWEMS on Campus September 8–12

Next week, our campus will welcome back the Western Energy Institute for its second year of their Northwest Electrical Metering School.

Operating in its 71st year, Western Energy Institute’s school curriculum emphasizes the importance of quality technical training in metering, while integrating fresh technological trends and perspectives. This course is designed to support metering apprentices and journeymen in the electric utility industry through expert lectures and hands-on lab training, covering everything from the basics of metering theory to AMI and high-end meter applications.

NWEMS will use space in the following buildings: 1100, 1500, 1700, and 9000.

Please note that we’re expecting a higher volume of visitors on campus throughout the week. 

Puget Sound Antique Radio Association Annual Swap Meet

The Puget Sound Antique Radio Association is holding their Annual Swap Meet on campus this weekend. The event will block the Southwest student parking next to the West entrance. The group will also be parking in the lots near this area.

Please remove cars from this parking lot from 8pm Friday 8/15 until 8pm Sunday 8/17. 

The event is open to the public. College community may attend.

The Amazing Acro-Cats

The Amazing Acro-Cats, featured in the Netflix series Cat People, are coming to The Shoreline Community College Theater in Shoreline, Washington August 28-31, 2025!

This troupe of trained house cats, all former orphans, rescues, and strays, give a one-of-a-kind, 90-minute purrformance that includes cats riding skateboards, jumping through hoops, ringing bells, balancing on balls, and performing other feats of agility and acrobatics. The show finale is the only all-cat band in the world: Tuna and the Rock Cats! The Rock Cats play guitar, drums, and piano, and they’ve been joined by the Jazz Cats on saxophone, trumpet, and clarinet.

The Acro-Cats tour to support Rock Cats Rescue, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. Rock Cats Rescue is focused on saving cats “One Click at a Time” through cat welfare, rescue, and adoption. The Acro-Cats show promotes the importance of bonding and training cats with positive reinforcement, while also finding homes for rescued cats. Rock Cats Rescue has found homes for hundreds of cats and kittens since 2009.

In addition to being on Cat People, the Amazing Acro-Cats have been featured on national TV shows including The Late Show with Stephen Colbert, Animal Planet’s Puppy Bowl, CBS News Sunday Morning, PBS Nova’s “Cat Tales,” and the worldwide top 10 streaming podcast “This Past Weekend” with Theo Von!

A portion of all ticket sales will go to our local rescue partners in the Shoreline area!

SEATING OPTIONS: VICP ticket holders receive a Purrbill (think playbill for cats). Additional Purrbills are available for sale at the meowchandise table.

  • Very Important Cat People Furront Row: VICP furront row seating! You’ll get to participate in the meet and greet furrst! Includes Purrbill.
  • Very Important Cat People: rows B, C, & D VICP seating in the second, third and fourth rows; you get to participate in the meet and greet right in row order after VICP Furront Row guests. Includes Purrbill.
  • Tier 1 : Seating in rows E, F, G, & H. No Meet & Greet. No Purrbill.
  • Tier 2: Seating in rows J, K, L, M, & N. No Meet & Greet. No Purrbill.

All seating is reserved. If your ticket includes the Meet & Greet (Row A – Row D), this occurs immediately AFTER the show! Have your cameras ready to come on stage and meet the Acro-Cats!

** Addtional Purrbills may be purrchased at the Meowchandise table before and after the show!

Additional Info:

The doors will open one hour before showtime. Please keep in mind this is a live animal show. Doors close at showtime and there will be no admission 10 minutes past showtime, no exceptions.

Car Seat Check Event

The Parent Education Program is hosting a Car Seat Check Event on campus in partnership with KidVantage. Bring your car seat, vehicle manual and a towel.

The Shoreline Fire Department will also be on site for families to visit the fire engine.
