Fall Convocation and Opening Week 2016 preliminary schedule

Dear Colleague,

I am looking forward to an exciting and meaningful time together for Fall Convocation! Please mark your calendar for an entire day of gathering and learning on September 14 and other professional learning events September 15-20. Fall Convocation and Opening Week will culminate with the first day of classes on September 21, 2016!

I want to thank the Fall Convocation group for their input and great ideas regarding Fall Convocation and Opening Week. We have great suggestions for professional learning opportunities at concurrent sessions on September 16th and 19th. Yvonne Ortiz of Avid for Higher Education will inspire us on September 16; Nature Walks and Construction project walkabouts will keep us well informed and, of course, welcoming our new employees and students is a top priority!

The DRAFT schedule can be downloaded here for your review. We will keep you informed as the schedule evolves.

The Writing and Learning Studio has moved

The Writing & Learning Studio will be located in Room 1504 just for summer quarter, beginning June 21 and ending August 10. Studio hours will be 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Mon-Thur. Closed Fridays and weekends.

Eliza Bryant, a studio assistant for the past four years, will be the summer studio supervisor. (Grace Rhodes, studio director, is off campus summer quarter, except for relocation activities.)

Reminder: Nominations for Classified Star and Administrator of the Year awards close soon!

Dear Campus Community:

The nomination period is still open for the Classified Star of the Year and the Administrator of the Year awards. Any Shoreline Community College administrator, alumni, classified employee, faculty member, foundation board member, student, or trustee may nominate an eligible faculty member (or group of faculty members), classified employee, or administrator for consideration to their respective award category.

These awards will be presented during the Fall Convocation.

2015-2016 Classified Star of the Year Award
Please submit nominations to Ron Carnell at rcarnell@shoreline.edu by Monday, June 30, 2016.

2015-2016 Administrator of the Year Award
Please submit nomination(s) no later than Thursday, June 30, 2016 to the President’s Office (Room 1018) or email to Lori Yonemitsu atlyonemitsu@shoreline.edu.

Shoreline Early Alert is live for Summer Quarter!

DEAR CAMPUS:

As we begin Summer Quarter, we would like to remind you about Shoreline Early Alert (SEA).

SEA is a referral program to serve ALL (domestic and international) students on campus. SEA is designed to provide academic intervention to students encountering difficulty in the pursuit of their academic goals. We recognize that intervention is a process and may not produce immediate results. That is why it is our goal is to reach out to the student early in the quarter and connect them to the appropriate resources.

MAKE A REFERRAL!

Use the SEA Referral Form rather than sending individual emails. A SEA Team member will respond to the referral within 24 hours by reaching out to both you and the student.
