Updates to President Roberts’ Retirement Plan Timeline

President Cheryl Roberts previously announced her intention to retire as of June 30, 2022, however her term will now end earlier than anticipated, on June 30, 2021.

The Shoreline Community College Board of Trustees took action to establish an earlier contract separation date at a special meeting on Tuesday, May 4, 2021. The Trustees expressed their gratitude for President Roberts’ service and leadership at the College, and the Board Chair, Dr. Catherine D’Ambrosio, read a draft resolution to acknowledge her many accomplishments at Shoreline to date.

The draft resolution states in part, “The Shoreline Community College Board of Trustees hereby recognizes Dr. Cheryl L. Roberts for her vision, leadership both inside the College as well as the broader community of legislators and elected officials, her erudition and academic excellence in leading Shoreline Community College and in forging the College’s path into the future and with a heart for equity, diversity and inclusion, writing the introduction to our next chapter.”

President Roberts will continue to serve in her role as president of the College through June 30, 2021, however there may be some intermittent periods where she will take personal leave time. During those times, a temporarily designated administrator in charge (AIC) will be named.

The Board of Trustees anticipates appointing an acting or interim president by June 30, 2021, and the College’s Executive Team will work closely with President Roberts to ensure a seamless transition plan is in place.

UPDATE AS OF MAY 14, 2021:

At the Friday, May 14 Board of Trustees public meeting, the Board took formal action to pass Resolution No. 162 “Commending Service of President Cheryl Roberts,” which was first read at the Tuesday, May 4 meeting.
