Hi Campus Community,
Here are this week’s updates!
RETURN TO CAMPUS/COVID-19
- Classes: winter 2022 classes continue as planned: in-person, hybrid, and online.
- Vaccinations:
- 92% of in-person students have attested to their vaccination status or have claimed an eligible exemption for winter quarter.
- You now can get Pfizer and Moderna vaccine boosters 5 months (instead of 6 months) after completing the original vaccine series. Children ages 12 and up are now recommended to receive a booster as well. See CDC statements on Pfizer and on Moderna. Boosters are available at the vaccine clinic in the Quiet Dining Room in the PUB. Walk-ins are welcome if you tell them you are a Shoreline Community College employee.
- Cases: Executive Team (ET) is closely monitoring the changing conditions of the pandemic, including the number of COVID-19 exposure reports submitted daily by students, staff, and faculty. Reported positive cases remain very low. Here are the numbers since the first day of winter quarter (January 10):
- Student positive cases: 26, which is 0.5% of total winter students.
- Employee positive cases: 12, which is 1.7% of total college employees.
While Omicron has a significantly higher transmission rate, it typically is showing to have less severe symptoms in vaccinated individuals than other variants, and for a shorter period of time.
- Sick? Stay home. If you suspect having been exposed to someone with COVID-19, are experiencing symptoms, or have tested positive, fill out a COVID-19 exposure report. If you are otherwise healthy with mild symptoms and cannot find testing availability, you should presume that you have COVID-19 and self-isolate according to current Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
- Testing:
- To make it easier to find a test near you, the Department of Health has created a webpage to help people find COVID-19 testing locations throughout the state.
- Can’t find a test right now? Here’s what to do.
- Order 4 free at-home COVID-19 tests . Every home in the U.S. is eligible to order. The tests are completely free. Orders will usually ship in 7-12 days.
- Masks:
- KN-95 masks have been distributed to front-line staff and to faculty who are teaching in-person.
- Buy from a trusted source. Project N95 vets mask distributors. Armbrust USA, is a company that makes and sells medical-grade masks made in the U.S.A. by various manufacturers.
- PCC: the Parent Child Center has reopened.
- Curbside Drop-off/Pick-up: contactless drop-off/pick-up service continues Monday-Wednesday 10am-3 pm in room 2905, but closes permanently on January 27th. Laptop pick-up and return is available through the Library (4000 Building) Monday-Thursday, 8am-5pm.
- Have questions? Email covidsupervisor@shoreline.edu or call 206-495-7744 during regular College operating hours.
- Check the COVID-19 Updates site for the latest information.
